I'm sure David Bell likes what he sees.
From Iowa.

We never had a chance with him and it's been obvious. He just posted a video of Warren RB and said "If you think there is a better RB in the state of Indiana then you're delusional." Seems like a slight jab at Sampson James. All the time "joking" with TJD to Go Green like he doesn't want him to go to IU. Might be reading a little too much into those but I think there's something there.

Pathetic. Screwed ourselves by trying to break away from the defender then Ramsey misses a wide open TE. GET RAMSEY OUT!!!

Ramsey is second in the Big 10 in passing yards, second in passing touchdowns and fourth in completion percentage, yet people want to act like he's the problem.

If he is slamming our recruit, while on a visit with us, I would politely say “your visit is officially over. Thanks for coming and good luck”. He clearly just came to watch Iowa play.

Do you notice where most of his completions are? They are within 5 to 7 yards. Eli Manning also has the highest completion rate of his career and the Giants are 1-5 largely because of him. Ramsey is extremely limited, you have to look beyond the numbers as there is more to the story.

He's definitely nothing special but this team has other issues too.  Plus I'm not sure I want to see the guy that couldn't beat him for the starter job.

There are hole all over the place. Can't pin this on Ramsey. But he's not the type of QB that has the skill set to play from a significant deficit. If Iowa scores again that has to be considered. Unfortunately, I'm not sure anyone on our roster can help with this but Penix might be worth a shot.

Okay how about the touchdowns and passing yards? It's not his fault that DeBord is a god awful offensive coordinator. When he's allowed to throw farther than 5 yards he can do so. He's not a superstar, but he's not the reason for IU's troubles either. It would help a lot if we had a running game and he wasn't asked to throw 40+ times a game.

I think the staff just really, really wants to redshirt Penix. I can't say I blame them...I mean, we're always preparing for a future that never gets here.

Throwing the ball a ton playing from behind but you also have to consider thsoe numbers were inflated against Charleston Southern, FIU and Ball St. Ramsey throws a decent ball but he lobs it too much when he tries to go deep and receivers more times than not have to come back. He's a very average QB. He's not going to turn it over and hurt you but he's not going to consistently put together big drives especially when we are behind. However, its far from just Ramsey. The defense lets up big plays and the running game has gone in the tank since we entered BIG play. I'm not a fan of Debord either. I really hope we let him go after this year.

Yes, they clearly want to redshirt him. He can play in two more games and they seem to be saving those in case Ramsey gets hurt.  If he does not have to play, because of a Ramsey injury, I would  guess that he will get some reps in the last two games of the season.

I really do wonder here. I really don't think we use our offensive players to their full potential. Didn't get it to Thomas and Simmie enough last year although part of that was QB play. This year we lack creativity on offense and again trying to get it to our playmakers seems like a challenge. We also abandon the run too much for my liking.

Debord had a great year with Dobbs at Tenn. It would be interesting to see how he would do with Penix, however, if he doesn't play much from here on out I don't know if Debord will be around long enough to find out.

I don’t know how someone can call Ramsey a good downfield passer. At this point in his career he is not good downfield.  He just isn’t. He runs well and throws good short passes but is limited downfield.  That being said, today’s issues are in the trenches, tackling, the D stinks and stupid penalties. We were just called for being offsides on a kickoff (LOL). Does anyone EVER remember a game in which the coaches were flagged twice in the first half??
