I know the guy is athletic but Smith keeps surprising at how strong he is too. We are definitely going to see him point-blank dunk on dudes in the future. If Morgan can teach him a little patience and a spin move in the paint, Smith will kill down low.

Hopefully he hasn't gone to the Freddie McSwain school of dunking on people.

Living out in Virginia, I try to follow the team as closely as I can. But I can't always get as much 411 as I'd like. Does anybody know what's up with Clifton Moore? I thought since this was an "all hands on deck" situation, we might see him yesterday. Especially since he's 6-10 and would provide some of the size we're missing with Davis out. Then I looked up his numbers and he's played in five games for a grand total of 23 minutes this season. If he's not ready and if we can't get anything out of him this season, why didn't we redshirt him?

My only guess is that when Archie put the sell on him to reaffirm his commitment, maybe Clifton and his dad insisted he not be redshirted (?).  Whatever the case, I believe unless a player is brought in as a project (which I hate), he should be able to get minutes and contribute on a mediocre team like we have now.  As it stands now I have to feel like this was a recruiting "miss".

Fun game to watch.  I really enjoyed to see #3 J. Smith step up.  A lot of positive to take away from this game.  They were hitting their shots too!  Was it me or did it look like they were playing with some chemistry?  I think I really noticed it on the defensive side of the ball or was that Minnesota is just playing that bad?

Hope they can stay on this awesome train for the next game against PSU this Tuesday at the Hall.

That was the story going around when he decided to stay. He wouldn't come if he was gonna be redshirted.

Why are so many people concerned about Morgan leaving? Is he graduating this spring? Seriously, 9 years of Tom Crean brainwashed so many of our fans into thinking every player who has a big game is NBA material.

Tons of players leave after 3 years regardless of if they are ready.

Because the guy is having an outstanding year?

Durham can red-shirt as I'm concerned.   He is a bad basketball player right now; needs a lot of work, and his minutes haven't been productive.  (Lest anyone think I'm being hard on him, in the last 10 games, he is shooting 12-35 from the floor and has 13 turnovers.)   He is playing because we have nobody else; and I REALLY hope we add a guard to next season's class, whether it's a grad transfer or a freshman.  Phinisee will start immediately (I think) and he'll be terrific, but he needs help.

Durham will not play much next year imo . There is a reason he was ranked where he was as he is simply not that good. Not sure why some of you are so high on him. I'm not seeing it.

I understand what you're saying, we're a bad team and Moore hasn't even sniffed the rotation.  However, I'm not worried about him yet.

Crean apologists drove me crazy when they defended terrible recruits by saying "someone has to be the last (13th player) on the bench."  It drove me crazy because we were recruiting kids who didn't belong in the Big Ten and were never going to be more than the last player on the bench.

However, it is true that someone has to be the last player on the bench.  I would rather that player be someone with upside who could develop into a solid rotation player by his junior and senior seasons.  I think Moore is that player, as evaluators talked about the tremendous potential he had.  Some claimed he had the most NBA potential of our recruits, even with the super athletic Smith coming in.

Right now the game is too fast for him, and he needs to add some weight.  But if we have to have a last player on the bench, I would prefer it be someone who has a chance to develop into a really solid contributor down the line.
