Class of '66 Old Fart Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Mike Schumann pointing out we've been in contact with 4-star Jahmai Mashack a 6'4" SG from Etiwanda HS in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. #16 SG and #76 overall per 247. No stats on MaxPreps. 247 Rivals HoosierAloha 1 Quote
HoosierDYT Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 I think we've seen the staff offer other targets to persuade specific recruits to commit sooner. I believe it happened with Damezi/Hunter, to some extent Franklin, and also Phinisee. Possibly this is the case w/ Aminu, although he has no incentive to commit early WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 23, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 23, 2020 I think we all have this pretty well narrowed down. Courtesy of Mike Schumann.Guards (likely one of these 3)Blake WesleyJordan LonginoAminu MohammadForwards (likely 1)Trey Kaufman Trey PattersonMason Miller. My preferred option is Kaufman and Mohammad. But really any of the guard tier with any of the forward tier looks nice. If I assume my best option, and we had space for 1 more I like Longino or Miller the next best. I don’t take the Patterson recruitment too seriously. Like him, but I don’t feel it. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Crimson and Cream, Brass Cannon, ray and 7 others 10 Quote

Hopefully get a commit soon and can narrow it further Quote
mdn82 Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 The great thing is everyone on that list is or is expected to be a capable shooter by the time they would potentially hit Bloomington. That’s how you outplay your ranking sometimes. This team needs a shot maker or 3. You come in ranked 60th and put up 12 per game people will notice.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners pumpfake, WayneFleekHoosier and thebigweave 3 Quote
ElectricBoogaloo Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Lots of noise that Blake Wesley is the best of those three guards. Anyone on here who has seen him play and can comment? Quote

I've also watched Mohammed and I don't care if his overall level of competition is significantly less than Wesley's, Mohammed passes my eye test in what he can do on the court and he's my preference. Now that I’ve gotten to watch a few full games of Wesley's, though I haven’t gotten to watch Longino yet, I’ll say this: if someone wants to argue that Wesley makes the most sense from a regional recruiting momentum standpoint or for continuing the development of a tenured roster long-term, I wouldn’t agree, but I get the argument. If someone is arguing that Wesley is a better player or near term prospect than Mohammed, not to be an utter ******, but I would question if they know what they’re watching. It’s just not a very serious argument. Really looking forward to watching Longino. BGVille Hoosierfan, MoyeNeeded, Stuhoo and 2 others 5 Quote

All the new interest I always wonder how much of recruiting is done more as a favor or to simply stay in touch with coaches and there's no genuine interest from a particular school. But it's more of a 'feel good' that Coach "X" stopped by the school and made contact with a player. Right now, I've got a list of nearly 40 class of '21 kids that have been referenced, mentioned, insinuated, etc., in connection with IU and in reality there's probably more than 40. Imagine if AAU had actually taken place in April how many names would have surfaced that we watched. MemphisHoosier and Stuhoo 2 Quote
Demo Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wNnJvWD180M https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5Rqua7lfwV8 Couple of full games of Johnson’s. Talented kid, but not what I expected at all. Thought he was an athletic CG, kind of a Jahmi’us Ramsey. But in reality he’s a big, long, physical power PG. Reminds me on a couple of viewings a little of Paul Scruggs. Great athlete, good vision, solid handle, great defensive traits. Fun to watch, gonna look for some more. 1 thing: the kid wasn’t even looking at 3’s. At all. And the teams were defending him like they didn’t expect him to take them. Nothing wrong with his form. Not something you see much these days. Class of '66 Old Fart, Stuhoo and MemphisHoosier 1 2 Quote
