Bailey7878 Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 I disagree. We did see improvement. The team looked much better in the half court in early December than when they started the season, and we could see them actually running a system that didn't resemble anything like Crean's. The team is regressing from the small gains they were demonstrating on a weekly basis. This isn't the same team that played Iowa and Duke. Something is off with them because they're not settling into their offense the way they were three weeks ago, they aren't playing together, and the effort is gone from a good chunk of the team. Improvement usually continues and not regresses. This team is getting worse.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Iugradman 1 Quote

Improvement isn’t close to a linear thing that shoots straight to the top. 12 turnovers is an improvement. Shooting sucks. Attitude and effort sucked. Wish we had leaders on the floor that would police some of the BS. A coach can yell at you. Some need their peers to call them out. I personally feel that is Davis biggest issue and imo his play coinciding with our worst play is no coincidence. He needs to **** or get off of the pot.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app A.j. Nigh, HoosierAloha, reconmkd and 2 others 5 Quote

It's a completely other thing to have an actual... leader echo the coaches thoughts. We have players who are soft, unintelligent (basketball), lack heart, and lack a leader that will hold them to those things. It's a sad state of affairs but if we can get a few players in with some of the other players exhausting their eligibility or simply finding another place to lolly gag we could have a completely different look next season. reconmkd, ALASKA HOOSIER, Iugradman and 1 other 4 Quote
Ranger78 Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Here is where I’m at: for the first time in my life, I’ve turned to the NBA for my basketball fix. I know it’s frowned upon to call out the refs, but games are so inconsistently called from one to the next it’s hard to watch. That coupled with IU sucking and it’s just better right now. Quote
Josh Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 I wanted IU to have a coach that could outcoach anybody. I wanted a coach that could take any 5 guys and beat your team. Now I find out that not only does Archie need his own guys, but it will take three years of his own guys to beat another team.Yuck. Overpaid thugs and cry babies imo. I'm super busy with my own kids sports so other than IU I have not seen much bball so far. That being said I'm about two more crappy efforts from not even bothering to watch iu this year. Why try and clear my schedule to watch garbage bball. I'd rather go watch a good high school game Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote

We would be in year three right now if we had done the right thing two years earlier. When you have a coach who's lost control of his team, has zero momentum in recruiting and the fans hate his guts and his system, you don't cling to the decisions of returning players and hope everything falls back into place; you fire his butt and move on. I'm honestly beginning to wonder if that 2016 Big Ten title was even worth it for all the hell we've been through since. ALASKA HOOSIER, Iugradman and Alford Bailey 3 Quote

Bailey7878 Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Thugs? Racist much? Good Lord seriously? Why can't a white guy be a thug? You sound like the racist.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk HoosierAloha and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

There will be bad apples in any large group of people but NBA players by and large are not “thugs.” Plus, the NBA is on an upward trajectory and is shaping up to be the best it's been in a long time. I'm not a fan of the Super Team movement, but as far as quality of play, it's excellent. If you want to watch thugs, watch the NFL, where if you have the nerve to cover Rob Gronkowski and pick off a pass, you risk getting your neck broken while you lay facedown on the ground after the play. It makes me sick.Talk about being sick to your stomach. We might have been better off with Alford or Holtman or Coghlan from IPFW. The thing is......Arizona has been successful with S Miller doing his thing. IU won't allow Archie to do similar stuff. Especially with the heat being turned up on Adidas, and Arizona. Not sure what recruiting will look like as we go forward. Hope to get the best from Indiana but the 5 stars (not from Doctor families) will be chasing the money trail. Archie will need to learn to compete with what he can get. Crean Conundrum all over again. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
Bailey7878 Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 How the hell am I racist? I didn’t use a softer version of the n-word. When people use that word it almost exclusively is in relation to black people. Which white guys in the NBA are thugs? There aren’t that many of them.Since your the self appointed PC police on this board calling others racists without knowing anything about them or their race you seem pretty judgmental to me. I'm done with this. Good luck with your pc crusade. Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote

8bucks Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 This is going to turn quickly on Archie. He either needs to get through to the guys or sit them. That 2nd half last night was pathetic. Deron Davis was probably giving the most effort and he is not giving much. Watching Morgan casually move around and post with no effort drives me crazy. He moved with purpose only when Happ went out otherwise he seemed to accept that he was beat. Happ is great because of the effort the kid gives. Watch him cut quickly, decisively and make the defense work so hard to stop him then watch Morgan do the complete opposite. I expected Archie to get through to them but if they did not buy in then I would have expected him to sit them. The fact that he continues to play them is a concern for me. LamarCheeks Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Chatted with my 81-year-old mother -- also an IU grad -- today. She is the widow of a former high school coach (my late father), so while she doesn't claim to know the intricacies of the game, she has a decent understanding of it. We were discussing IU and she said: "I don't get that Robert Johnson. He's a senior, right? He's been around long enough where he should know what he's doing and should be able to tell everybody else what they should be doing and get them all playing together. But he doesn't. And since he's a senior, I don't understand that." I said: "None of us do, Mom." But the old gal hit the nail on the head! IUBBFan1970, Ranger78, A.j. Nigh and 4 others 7 Quote
