Be watching him a lot this year. New Albany plays both Bloomington South and Bloomington North on the road. Also play at Carmel and in the Southport Classic

I'm gonna have to watch him when he plays in Bloomington. Hopefully by that time I'll be watching IU commit Romeo Langford.

New Albany at Bloomington South on November 25. I think there's a good chance we'll be watching IU commit Romeo Langford

I kind of doubt Romeo would have made a decision by then. I feel like he will take as much time as he can down to the wire.

I am going to admit to some ignorance here. Is this kid seriously really that good? Best all-time?

I ask because I've never seen him play. I don't look at youtube highlights because mostly they just show guys doing a bunch of dunks, but never show how they play defense, fit within the team, or make their 'mates better. Plus, who is truly going to put any bad games in those clips.

So, I ask again. The best all-time? Really? Better than Oscar? Better than McGinnis? Better than.....well, you get the idea. I'm just a bit skeptical of that statement.

Kind of a fun question to chew on. Since about 1980, when I graduated HS, Oden number 1 easily. Then a tier of Glenn Robinson, Eric Gordon, Landon Turner and maybe Alan Henderson. Would put Langford with these guys. Definitely ahead of guys like Zach Randolph and Jeffries.

I guess I should of said arguably the best in state prospect since IU's last title.    From watching him many times he is in my opinion the best prospect out of the state in a very long time

Sounds much more feasible to me.

Sir, you have regained my trust! (HA! As if that really makes any difference.)

Getting Romeo would mean that IU is once again a player in college basketball. IU was nowhere in this recruitment until Archie came along. This would send such a strong message that IU finally has "The Guy"

Completely disagree. See LSU and Ben Simmons. Indiana is already recruiting at a highly competitive level. Even Crean landed Burger Boys and top 10/20 players. Indiana isn't a player until we start making Final Fours again.

The difference is LSU and IU. One is not like the other in college basketball. And Archie is actually a good coach too

So is Will Wade. I'm confident that Archie will have more success, but this idea that Romeo suddenly fixes decades worth of mediocrity at Indiana is overly optimistic. I'd also argue that a tournament to at least the Sweet Sixteen this year and/or next would be a bigger signal of the resurgence we can expect under Archie rather than the signing of one recruit.

Recruiting and Back to Back sweet sixteens means nothing. We just had a coach that did that.

We wont be elite again until being in the tourney is a given.

We have reached a FF

And at least played in another BT title game.

Yes, I know, we've had that discussion for the past 9 seasons, but it would be more significant for a new coach walking into a program on the decline to do so his first year. Obviously want more than what we had, and expect it, but I am realistic about the timeline a coach needs to build his system and mold/recruit guys that play into it. Archie still has Tim Priller as a scholarship player, a big question mark at PG, and a class of freshman that probably doesn't have an immediate impact player on it. To expect something exponentially better than last season is a tough sell for me, but I'm ready to be amazed by the "Archie Difference".

I'm more than willing to give Archie some time. And I don't expect us to be elite again right out the bat.

Crean did leave the program better than he found it gotta give him that much. But Archie will still get some time.

Anything we see this season is just gravy.

That's where I'm at. There's no reason we should regress from last season, but I'm not expecting any astronomical difference. It's going to take time during the season for a lot of Archie's changes to take effect. He has to overcome 1-4 years worth of Crean's teachings, and that's not something that can be done in a shortened offseason.

I think the biggest difference we will see is the OOC competition this year. We'll take some lumps early, but I believe we'll be better for it by the end of the year.

A nice thing to think about is that even if we only get to 18-19 wins this year we'll make the tourney because of our OOC schedule. All bets are off if we can just get there. Who knows, maybe we'll mess around and win a few games.

Agreed. Gives Archie a chance to teach the guys his system.

Lot differebt teaching it to the whole team versus 4 or 5 newcomers. There's no players to help demonstrate.

Lets get the system taught. See who works in it and just keep building those AAU relationships.
