Romeo is going to IU. I really do believe that

I'll keep pounding my chest on this one. What do I have to lose? Ain't getting paid for my opinion! If I'm wrong, oh well, I'm wrong and I'll take some ribbing from you guys on here. But if I'm right.....

I caught part of the interview. He really sounded like he wanted to be there. I especially liked the part about how these commits are low level 4* and acted like it was no big deal FCTC would have been on these guys as well!

He probably has a point relative to UK or Duke but it's a different strategy, and I think it's going to pay off over the long run. If we can pluck a 5 star every year and then surround him with guys like we added yesterday and today it's a winning formula in my mind.

Can we get the Langford or Garland to go with them is the question. Heck, even Dort. 1 of these 3 would make for great class.

Archie Miller is Herb Brooks basically, hes not necessarily looking for the best players.  Hes looking for the right players.  There will of course be some overlap.

2018 roster as of now.

Guards-1. Green 2. Durham. 3. CuJo

Guards/Wings- 1. Smith 2. Damezi 3. Hunter

4's- 1. Race 2. Juwan

Bigs- 1. DeRon. 2. Clifton

Way too early Projected starters

1. Green
2. CuJo
3. Smith
4. Juwan
5. DeRon.

Not sure if a current recruit would be a projected starter yet in my mind. Maybe Hunter over Smith or CuJo. Langford would slot at the 2. Garland vs a Junior Green could be interesting.

It's all interesting. We will learn a lot this year about our returning players. All except DeRon and Juwan have big question marks to me.

I tell ya; you guys are sleeping on Al. He won't just be popular, he'll be good.

I think we're gonna see these players perform beyond expectations because they believe in Archie. Belief and respect in a coach go a long way

It's hard for me to see Al being better than Green, Stuhoo. But I'm an unabashed Green fan. I can see Al surpassing CuJo though if CuJo doesn't improve this offseason.

That being said, I can see CuJo being REALLY good if he learns how to use his speed and gets a more consistent shot.

I dunno; I loved the way Green played last year, but something nags at me that he's limited in his potential.

His skill set is really that of a two guard; he has very little ability to break defenders down on the bounce, and while he has good court vision and a natural feel for the game, a short armed point who can't get past people is gonna turn it over a lot. He's not a bad shooter, but he's not a great shooter either. He can defend a point, but he's too short to defend a big guard or a wing. I see him as a junior or senior seventh or eighth man on a very good team. I don't see him as a 25-30 minute per game starter. Ever.

Durham? Also reportedly has a great feel for the game, and having watched him in a real game (albeit a sloppy one) at the Derby Classic I can tell you that he has a lot of wiggle and can get past people to pass or finish. And he's 6'4". Much more potential as a starting point some day.

Here is the thing that Jerry Meyer doesn't get, he is talking about a new coach who lost 3 guys to the NBA draft and is taking over a program who has lost it's luster. Archie knows besides maybe getting lucky(Dort) or an in state kid(Langford) or ties to it(Garland) this first class was more about building a foundation not grab a bunch of one and dones. Say he got 5 one and dones next year he would replace 9 players the following year lol. Archie isn't gonna do that until he has this program built like he wants or ever. What these kids do is build on what we have and make it to where we can get the high 4 stars or 5 star kids that when they leave we will be okay. I am perfectly happy with 3 60-90 kids each year with the occasional 5 star. You know who else does that? Nova! Up until the last 2 years so did Michigan State and U of L as well as Syracuse, Virgina, Wisconsin & even UNC to an extent. Zona, Duke, KU & UK are the ONLY schools who constantly get more than 1 5 star. Yes it leads to success, but also it can be done the other way.

Meyer just wants to ran on our parade and honestly I stopped listening halfway through because you could tell where he was going with it.

I truly believe along with Archie we have one of the best staffs in the country and for that alone I will continue to have high hopes until proven otherwise. The '19 class has been the big name class to all of us since Archie got the job, so like I said keep getting the role players and guys who have potential to be more Archie and sprinkle in the big names when you need to.

Oh yeah btw I believe CuJo will be our best guard not named RoJo this year and I think Green ends up being looked at as our PG for the future this year, so I am not as high on a need for guards or big names as others.

I believe we get 2 of Langford, Garland, Dort, Duke or Phinisee and that will be perfect. I also believe we end up with a transfer coming in. Grad or sit one. Just a feeling.

I also expect to see Cujo take a big leap.

Judging by our recruitment it looks like Archie wants a stable of 5-6 solid contributors, 2-3 guys developing into contributors then some studs ugh I love this recruiting strategy so much.

Especially makes sense considering Archie says it takes years to really learn his D.

I hope we make a habit of using red shirts like we are doing with Race also.

I'm certainly not opposed to using them but it takes a unique kid in today's era to buy into the fact he's better off spending another year in developing his game before actually jumping into D1 competition.  The kids we want have been the stars on their high school team and most likely one of the stars on their AAU team.  They've been told for years "man, you're really good" and they start thinking about their 10-year career in the NBA, being a one and done, etc.  I think Thompson's willingness to redshirt makes him extra special in my mind.  I'm not trying to paint every kid we're trying to recruit with that same paintbrush, but I do think far too many of today's AAU players think they're too good to redshirt and would immediately turn off the recruiting pitch from a coach who suggested that's what they should consider doing.
