Romeo's gonna cannonball into Bloomington and then all will be well again.

I definitely agree but I think many people would also have been complaining if they committed here thinking they weren't "ranked" high enough. That we should have done better if we got players that committed.

Literally no ones doing that, you just have a few posters that anytime a player commits they think the world is coming to an end so people have to bring them back to reality.

Literally, there have been numerous posts and posters commenting on how '18 is going to be tough as Archie was just hired recently and at Dayton was recruiting different kids and it takes time to build relationships and other schools have had way more time to do that...

Nobody said it was good or bad that happened. Just expecting it. How is that an excuse? I would like us to do something literally a very small percentage of recruiters have ever done but I don't expect it. Does that mean I fault Archie for not getting it done? Of course it's his fault. It's July. He should have had 3 5* already. lol I wish we could pull up this exact convo for every recruiting season the last 15 years between here, HSN, and Scout. Same every year. Most commits start around August/September when OV start. If we get to October with no commits then I will we be worried. Until then this convo is just spinning wheels, repetitive, and hilarious.

Agreed. It's part of what he and every coach has to overcome when they take a jump on talent. Some schools your hand is forced on what type of kid you have to recruit. IU is one of those places. I feel he has the staff in place to make noise. I just feel 2019 is looking to be a better year. I EXPECT 2-5* which others have said unlikely as it hasn't happened in over 25 years. I understand why they say that. I just feel we are lined up for a very strong class that will be needed to compete for titles.

We were probably justified most of those 15 years, haha. Indiana recruiting hasn't been where it needs to be to be a top flight school.
Crean had a couple of good years, but never pieced them together to form a giant. Everyone wants to point to "The Movement" as the reasoning we shouldn't aim for top level talent. It's ludicrous to me to use that outlier as justification for recruiting misses.

We are all just looking for "indications" that Indiana can compete with the top schools. Recruiting is the start of that. On court results are the end of that.

I don't think anyone is in panic mode in June on recruiting. Swider and Johns are 2 targets many of us really liked. Easy to get anxious when missing targets, but we all know plenty of options remain. No biggie. It's the ebbs and flows.

Ok. Now let's hurry up and land a stud.

I think I'd be ecstatic with a four man class of one each of the following.

PG: Garland, Carey, Phinisee
SG: Langford, Johnson, Dort
SF: King, Bazley, Hunter
PF: Thompson

I wouldn't mind taking a three man class and having 4 open scholarships for 2019.

2018-2019 roster

PG: Green, 2018 recruit
SG: Jones, Durham, 2018 recruit
SF: Smith, 2018 recruit
PF: Morgan, Moore
C: Davis

Exactly what I have been thinking. Take enough to field a team. And wait for the guys who are difference makers in 19

Reasons become excuses when others succeed without needing reasons for failures.

A little more to it than the tweet implies. I will be anxiously awaiting to see how Wade does at LSU over the coming seasons versus what Archie does here. I think we will do just fine.

I'm sure we'll do fine too, Indiana has always recruited itself pretty well regardless of the coach in place.  Some are more optimistic than others regarding current recruiting, but we're all hoping for the best.

I'm a little discouraged with having no recruits yet, and a little surprised that Nahziah Carter chose Washington.  He loved Archie at Dayton, but didn't want to follow him to IU?  Strange.

I guess excuses vs reasons will be decided next year at this time.

Except it's nothing extra special; a 4 star, a 3 star and an unranked. Then a hometown 5 star who probably would need a bulldozer to pull him away from LSU.
