cljones1979 Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 If Davis can come back, and raise his play (stay out of foul trouble!), it would help Morgan immeasurably. Heck, it'd help everyone on the court with him. Being able to rotate Morgan, Davis, Smith, and hopefully Thompson would go a long way to improving the team.Davis is too much of a liability in defenseSent from my SM-G955U using BtownBanners mobile app jonz44 and BGleas 2 Quote

He's coming off a torn achilles and likely won't be going full speed for at least another 6 months. For someone that struggles with conditioning and quickness I wouldn't expect a lot next year honestly. Best case scenario is getting Romeo and a grad transfer big imo. jonz44 and VO5 2 Quote

I just don’t think Davis fits in Archie’s system. I mean, look at who Archie recruited to play the 5 in Forrester. He’s the complete opposite of Davis. Quick, lengthy, athletic and explosive. I don’t see how he contributes much next year coming off that Achilles injury when he couldn’t play defense healthy.. thebigweave, TXHoosierDaddy, CR3AMnCR1MS0N and 5 others 8 Quote

HinnyHoosier Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Agreed Davis doesn't quite fit in regards to athleticism. He's still a value to have when you have those games where you need a banger down low. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Hardwood83 and pumpfake 2 Quote

I'd like to believe he can at least be an upgraded Freddie - he doesn't have to be a first option or dominant to be a contributor. Jake F will take some time to acclimate, maybe only getting sparse minutes as a freshman. Hardwood83 and HinnyHoosier 2 Quote

Sanford would have more of an impact than Nick Zeisloft did IMO. He would fit well here. Also played some PG at Reitz in high school so he can handle the ball well. It will be interesting to see that names of big men that could come here. deemoons 1 Quote

hoosierdogg Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Will Morgan graduate this year? Not sure that makes much difference if he is offered a nice paycheck somewhere. However, that nice paycheck would not be in the G league.Sent from my XT1710-02 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
HoosierAloha Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 We need Davis to return healthy and contribute ~20 minutes/game. Morgan did a fine job manning the middle in his absence but we need a banger when the need arises. Morgan would absolutely destroy most 4s in the Big Ten down low. Best case Juwan returns to claim the B1G PoY, Romeo is all we hope for, the rest of the cast buys in and plays smart and hungry. The Defense is there from day 1. Lineup something like this: Green, Langford, Smith, Morgan, Davis. With Phinisee, Hunter, McRoberts, Thompson & maybe a Grad Transfer Center off the bench. Worst case scenario? I don't really want to talk about that...... I guarantee Phinisee will be the starting pg next year, probably from day 1 Str8Hoosiers, HoosierTrav and Rookie33 1 1 1 Quote

He is the next Yogi for us in my opinion...and I'd be willing to bet either Damezi or Hunter start as well. IF Romeo comes that would be great but being realistic and assuming he doesn't come I think our lineup will look like this:PhiniseeMorganDavisAnderson/HunterSmith/Green depending on matchups I think Anderson can play at the 2 spot if need be and is going to make a HUGE impact immediately because of his shooting alone (something we didn't have ALL year)Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app IUBBFan1970 1 Quote

Stuhoo Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 I believe we could be a pretty good team with two freshmen starters, BUT ONLY IF the other three starters were really good (ie; Morgan, Smith, and a very good grad transfer). Here's the good news: Archie wants to win. Soon. He will do what it takes to get successful pieces into the lineup. VO5, MIUGA, Class of '66 Old Fart and 2 others 5 Quote

Bailey7878 Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Maybe Rob takes it by storm, but if we have 2 Fr starting and neither is Romeo, I'm preparing for a rough season. If it's 3 Fr starting (Rob, Hunter & Anderson)? Ugh, that will give me 2010-2011 flashbacks. I do think that the opening game starters are unlikely to be the same as in March. I agree. The expectations some of you are putting on Rob are ridiculous. Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Str8Hoosiers, Jam and BGleas 3 Quote
Bailey7878 Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 You're comparing Phinisee who wasn't even a Top 100 HS player to Yogi who was Top 25 and a burger boy. Yogi was very good. Even as a freshman. We should be happy if Phinisee is half the player.People are delusional like this every year with new players.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk ThompsonHoosier, Scooter D, WayneFleekHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote
Crimson and Cream Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I've seen Rob play a couple times. I know my expectations are a lot more than his "rating" but I truly believe he's massively underrated and will be a fan favorite here. BGVille Hoosierfan, ALASKA HOOSIER and IUBBFan1970 3 Quote
