I’m expecting RP to step on campus and be a marked upgrade as a floor general over Newkirk. Yogi comparison is tough to even think about. Yogi started immediately playing with two lottery picks, seniors, and 1000 point career players around him.

I agree but there are people making it.

The Phinisee/Yogi comparison is unfair (at least initially) because it seems their situations will be reversed. Yogi started off as a frosh with loads of professional talent around him and then they all left and he had little help for the most part. Rob will likely start off with a roster that is lacking in talent (at least on the same level as Yogi started off with) but we all hope and assume the talent will get here throughout the next 4 years and I expect him to be a key cog on some big time contenders his junior/senior seasons.

The one thing that I think clearly has Yogi like similarity with Phinisee is how he shoots the ball. He has Yogi's level of verticality and, more importantly, he releases his shot at the very height of that verticality, just like Yogi did. I don't think Phinisee has the handles that Yogi had or the stop/start that Yogi had, but there are things that are similar. We can only hope that Robert provides a direction of improvement.

I think the 1 category Phinisee will help with is on court intelligence.

I think our lack shot makers will make his job WAY harder.

Adding Romeo or a grad transfer type that can shoot near 40% would be the best thing that could happen to RP.

We will have great length through the 2-4. We will lack a real 5. But shot makers at the 2 and 3, but especially the 2 will be crucial.

I've only compared RP and Yogi as players; and nobody has to agree with me, but I think RP is at least as good if not better as a pure point guard.    It'll be better for him if Morgan hangs around, Smith develops, Davis is healthy, etc.   But Yogi has a different and stronger body; so was capable of different things.   RP is fantastic.  I saw a comparison to Michael Lewis above.  He's better than that.

And I think what Rob may lack in speed/quickness and strength that Yogi had, he makes up for with his ability to take care of the ball. I think what fans are going to appreciate the most is he understands how to take care of the ball.

Kinda what I was saying above.  RP is much quicker than some think he is.  The only thing that will hold him back next season would be his strength, as you mention.  And I'm not even sure about that.

I think not having any semblance of a real floor general this season is really going to lead fans to appreciate Rob next year.

Saw a rumor on twitter Illinois Mark Smith might be transferring.

Top 100 kid that got outplayed by a kid with a lower ranking. Frazier is that teams pg moving forward and they have a 5 star talented SG coming in. Might not want to fight for playing time

I remember when he absolutely blew up last minute and all the big dogs came sniffing. Seems like the kind of kid who needs a change of scenery (new coach) to get rolling in the right direction again.

I've seen it mentioned we are looking into the JUCO route. I was able to pull up one tweet from Rabjohns. It mentions a few JUCO's though. Anyone know who else we are targeting? Thanks!

Found this one too.
