Huge news. If rumors are true, the first direct benefit of our new coach has already manifested itself.

Like to think that once 1 player, i.e, Davis has signaled his intention to stay, others might do so as well so we start getting a better sense of what kind of nucleus our next coach (BD) will have to work with.

Beyond shocked if reports are true. Always believed if we had coaching change Davis was a certainty to go considering how close he was to Crean. Hopefully more players feel the same way and stay with the exception of Blackmon

Right, and that was probably previously true but with one season under Davis' belt may have showed him Crean isn't going to use him properly. Meaning, Davis realized his main job is just to set screens and go rebound instead of being showcased down low. I think Crean has done a complete disservice to every big he's had.

What's wild is that he never utilized Vonleh, who was an absolute stud, for showcasing his guard skills...which he had. Yet all we see this season is Bryant not being down low and out shooting 3s, with lower level guard skills, haha

That's what you get with positionless basketball. Instead of having your players play to their strengths, you get big men handling the ball in situations they shouldn't and guards being mismatched and giving up easy buckets.

In my opinion, Davis was leaving if Crean was back. I believe he had enough in one season to know he wouldn't be able to show his true potential under Crean. I heard rumblings to that affect as well.

Wonder what glass even told the boys today?

"Keep going to class, you'll have access to cook hall of course peace out"

"Billy is on the way! Go to class, and if you're staying next year, work out and work your @$$ off. I want to see banner #6, hopefully you do too!"

https://indiana.rivals.com/news/report-de-ron-davis-remains-committed-to-iu

IU Athletics Director Fred Glass in his press conference last Thursday said he hoped current players would give the program's new head coach a chance. So far, at least one player appears to be on board.

Despite the dismissal of head coach Tom Crean, freshman forward De'Ron Davis remains committed to the Hoosiers according a report from Denver 9News sports report Aaron Matas, who cited Davis' high school coach.

Davis arrived on campus in late August last year after tending to summer academic obligations in his hometown of Aurora, Colorado. Missing summer workouts put him behind from a strength and conditioning standpoint, but he was gradually able to earn more time on the court - with all four starts coming in Big Ten play - as his conditioning improve.

The 6-foot-10, 240-pound forward averaged 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game this season, playing in all 34 of the Hoosiers' games while starting four of them.

This story will be updated.

Yeah, that's major.

Based on his Instagram post, he seemed oddly happy about Crean getting fired.

I mean the players have to have some clue where they are headed to make decisions without knowing the next coach being public right?

Not necessarily. He could just love IU and is committed to being here regardless of who coaches. I can tell you I love my boss but love my job just as much. I would be committed to my job regardless of who my boss was. Could be something like that.

He may know something about coaching search but it could just as easily be he loves IU regardless of who coaches him.

Sure. I was just told he was somewhat homesick in Dec. Was told to watch that one, then Crean is gone and Mom loved Crean.

De'ron was the #1 guy we needed to keep, imo. He will be an anchor inside for us the next 2-3 seasons. Now Morgan and Green need to follow suit.

G_Dit man, you were reading my mind!  I thought only my wife could do that!

I'm hoping if Green can return, he can beat out Newkirk to be the starting point guard next season.
