CottageGrove Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I believe 100% that KJ and Calbert left (in part) because of some of the stuff that was going on with the program. I know, no one agrees with me here, and thinks it was all about the money, but...... Just like Fischer, Marlin, and others leaving too. No one wants to believe these things are related but..... So you think that KJ brought these guys in (Troy & Stan) and once they started creating problems he jumped ship? If that's the case that was very classy of him, and I would say good riddance. theriverpilot 1 Quote
KingPG21 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 If Crean is let go before the end of the season, wouldn't we have to hire one of the assistants as an interim? Who else would be available so soon? MMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE LazOffTheBench 1 Quote

Kepner Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Kepner, you are blinded by something. I don't get it. Pap has stated publicly on some of these issues being discussed without indecision. He was clearly right about Guy as evidenced by his early verbal to UVA. Yes I realize no coach will "lock" the Indiana borders but Crean has pissed off many coaches/media members. It's not disputable. I'm blinded by something? No its called my opinion. Geez. Why is that every time someone else shared and opinion that throws Crean into the mud it's fine, but I make a comment saying I don't think his relationships with coaches are that bad and all of a sudden I'm "blind" cause of my OPINION. The whole point of this board is to share opinions so get over yourself. I'm just saying the 2017 Indy Hoosiers AAU team has all of the top talent for that class on the team and I know one of the kids on it and he says that their coach loves Crean and his style. All the players go to multiple IU games and have nothing but positive things to day about Crean. There is a fact for you Quote

CampHoosier Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 "I'm told that disconnect also existed when Crean's team was top-ranked in 2012-13. "It's just that those guys were so talented that they rallied around each other and won," a source said." That's the nail in the coffin LazOffTheBench 1 Quote

LazOffTheBench Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 This is all making me wonder why Cody went pro early. You know the Zeller family values a college degree. Quote
BlueDevil Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 This is all making me wonder why Cody went pro early. You know the Zeller family values a college degree. Which was why I kept hearing at the time oladipo was going to stay if Cody did but zeller wasn't going to stay if crean was still there. Unknown how truthful that statement was. But wasn't there also rumors of sheehey transferring out? Quote
shortspacequickness Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Why do all of these former players speaking glowingly about Crean is the question. If he's such a horrible human being and mentor. Kepner 1 Quote

LazOffTheBench Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Where are the former players speaking glowingly now of Crean? I see them tweeting about IU's great tradition but not supporting Crean. Quote
shortspacequickness Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Where are the former players speaking glowingly now of Crean? I see them tweeting about IU's great tradition but not supporting Crean. Not talking about tweets. Just in speaking with them personally, and in what they say publicly now that they have moved on. Hulls specifically has gone out of his way about Coach Crean. Quote
2Much Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Still find that hard to believe with the type of players we had Absolutely believe it. There were double standards for conduct and the players knew (and told the freshmen like Yogi and Jeremy and Hanner) that Crean wasn't serious about discipline. Those players were told by some upperclassmen that stuff like drinking and cheating and smoking pot wasn't a big deal around there because Crean would yell and get mad and make them run, but that was it. That is not a message your upperclassmen vocalize to incoming freshmen when they see their head coach as a person worthy of respect. Hutch89 1 Quote
LazOffTheBench Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Jordy is a good guy, always has been. He's also smart. If he hopes to coach someday, saying nice things about his former college coach is good politics. Quote

I was looking at the leadership point of view. The main story that comes to mind is when Yogi came in very cocky and Sheehey pushed him around and put him in his place. Other than that incident, I along with most people don't know what was said/went on behind the scenes and how that affected the team Quote
yogisballin Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Get real, they're not firing Crean before the start of the season. Agree! Probably not until at least toward seasons end or end of season. Quote
Bowhunter Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Jordy is engaged to my wife's cousin. He has never said one negative thing about coach Crean other than he is very demanding and full of energy. shortspacequickness, FortWayneHoosier, mamasa and 4 others 7 Quote
