The Celtics are winning and winning and winning and winning.

They are in 7th place in the East and a game above being out of the playoffs all together. Yes it's early but let's not make it sound like Stevens is blowing the doors off in the NBA.

The Celtics still don't have a superstar in a league dominated by superstars. Even with the draft picks it could be years before one turns into a star, if one does at all. Lebron and Curry aren't coming in this draft. There is nobody in college today that dominated like Steph Curry at Davidson.

I think you're proving the point, though. He's in the playoff hunt in the east (which admittedly isn't great, but still) with an absolutely garbage roster.

NBA is a star driven league unless they can get him a star player it's going to be hard for him to have the success he could have here

Right...That's what I'm saying, he's having a marginal amount of success with a roster that's bottom 5-10 in the league.

The converse is what we are getting at. He will NEVER win a title unless he gets a superstar and some all stars. The absolute worst position to be in as a NBA franchise is a middle of the pack team. No chance at a superstar and a team not good enough to win it all. Nobody is doubting his coaching acumen.

The only chance would be for the Celtics to package these draft picks and try and land a superstar that's unsettled. Let's face it though, as long as Lebron James is playing, Boston and other Eastern teams will be playing catchup.

Like I said earlier, this could take years for Boston to be championship level.

Yeah.... I realize that, I don't know what you're getting at. I'm saying he's doing well with a crap roster...Imagine what it will be like when Ainge gets him talent. It could take years, but maybe Stevens is willing to ride it out. No one knows. Count me in the camp that would love him, but isn't counting on it. We act like we can just come knocking and pluck him from Boston, but Ainge will do literally whatever it takes to keep him there.

All due respect, what a coach does in the NBA is not relevant at all to what he can do in college.   But....he did an incredible job last season, most in the business consider him a defensive genius and the best young coach in basketball.....without a close 2nd place.   The NBA is all about players.  In college, coaches can make a MUCH bigger difference and affect teams/games/programs far more than they can in the NBA.  Do we think Luke Walton is a great basketball coach??   Seriously?

I think I'm confusing people. Im not saying he isn't great. He is by far my favorite coach in the game. I'm saying it's not a slam dunk he would want to stay in Boston bc of their roster construction and the need for NBA superstars to win it all.

Edit: my bad for not being clear.

Shouldn't be too hard to sell talented players on one of the best young coaches in the world and the Celtics organization as a whole.

Keep going guys! You've surely almost convinced Ainge to give up on Brad Stevens! It's not like the Celtics are a blue blood of the NBA with a history of building contenders. No way they'll ever get there with Stevens and Ainge.

But if Stevens were to come here, he and Glass would definitely turn this college blue blood with a history of building contenders into the power house it has been in the past.

While we're on the conversation of superstars winning in the NBA, has anyone noticed what has been happening to college basketball? There's a reason Duke and Kentucky are winning so much.

Does Hova need a hug?  We understand it shouldn't be hard but no need to call him an a**hole... :thankyou:

Unfortunately, I think BS stays in the NBA for at least a few more years.  Fortunately, I believe he returns to college one day and takes his rightful place as the head basketball coach at Indiana University.
