indy317219 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Why is he so stupid? Think about this: current role is all about access. Dakich and those like him have to start all over and that requires relationship building skills. By all accounts Dakich does it fairly well. But if an outsider comes in he will have to work harder. Alford would provide Dakich, as a media member and IU alumnus, complete and unrestricted access. 8bucks 1 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Is anyone really surprised by their comments? The media is simply asking all Creans friends and family about how they feel about his firing. Of course they're all gona say it sucks, IU made a mistake, he's a great coach, blah blah blah. Not ONE of them talk about his overall record at Indiana, tournament appearances and win % - they only want to highlight his Big Ten Championships. Dear Harbaughs - NO ONE is questioning the integrity and work ethic of Tom Crean. Everyone knows how much of a family man he is, what a great guy he is and the passion he had for IU basketball. He lost his job because he didn't get the overall job done which is consistently winning, getting to the tourney and competing for National Championships every.single.year - not just every few years. I can't blame them for sticking up for family--but how long does anyone really think Michigan. Would tolerate Harbaugh coaching UM football to multiple seasons just a few games over .500 or ending the year ranked near the bottom of the conference with no prestigious bowl game in sight? Answer? He'd be gone quickly. Same standard should apply because IU basketball is just as important to us as UM football is to Michigan.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners RedsIUfan, Tom White and schoosier 3 Quote

Popular Post RedsIUfan Posted March 17, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 17, 2017 I'm watching this WSU vs Dayton game and seeing some really weird stuff! A couple of minutes ago? This guy didn't even have the ball and he ran along the baseline and then he kinda like curled around, and there was a guy there that he ran real close to and it kind of blocked his defender and then there was another teammate there that like did the same thing! It looked cool! We should do it and call it something like a double screen! But why do they move without the ball? And they seem to really want to stay with their man on defense! Weird! They try and Deny their man from getting the ball also! They don't do that little weave thing at the top of the key though? That's weird! Thought everyone did that! 8bucks, Trish, bizzle44 and 6 others 9 Quote

waitingon6 Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Very interesting article from the Indianapolis Business Journal and quotes from people that do get Fred's attention contrary to how some pundits have claimed that it was us little people that got FCTC fired. [Former Coach Tom Crean] And FWIW, I had contact with Steve Stitle on more than one occassion when I was gainfully employed many years ago and the man is a straight talker. Tells it like it is. http://www.ibj.com/articles/62991-big-iu-donors-were-complaining-loudly-about-crean?utm_source=news-update&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=2017-03-16#.WMst37Rx_Eo.emailGreat read! Nice to get insight from some of the money people. None of these sports "insiders or experts" seem to have any more knowledge than we do. Especially Dakich!I will continue to put more faith in our inside sources (until proven otherwise) than any local or national talking heads.Swing for the fences!Sent from my SM-G900V using BtownBanners mobile app CR3AMnCR1MS0N and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

AZ Hoosier Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Tea leaves and hand writing on the wall point to Steve Alford. Interesting comments by him in the Star. Also, interesting to note that the Star reports his mention of Faith/God and the espn-pc report does not. Just sayin'...... Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Lots of things bother me about Alford. His record at Iowa is one … and related to that are the Pierre Pierce and Luke Recker issues. Clearly the Pierce issue is the larger of the two, and I still have considerable reservations about that one. Similarly, the Recker thing shows a clear lack of judgement on Alford's part, IMO. I don't see him much above Crean in terms of overall coaching success. He's easily as inconsistent as Tommy Boy has been, wasn't it just last year the fan base was after him with torches and pitchforks? No thanks. Let UCLA keep him. For me, the jury is still out. It will be until we have a new coach. That will will be the proof in the pudding. Quote
