HinnyHoosier Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 But it is significant in knowing how to coach. If you were a great player then you should have a great understanding of the game imo it's always better when coaches have playing experience THIS IS INDIANA!!!!While I very much agree, there is a caveat to everything. See: Brad Stevens. But yes, it's always comforting to know your hc has had experience at a high level. Dalton26 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I keep seeing tweets about it being an IU fan but somehow a UK reporter is smarter than 90% of the other college basketball reporters and fan bases. IUsafety, theriverpilot and Chris Nieman 3 Quote
CR3AMnCR1MS0N Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I left NCSU off because I think it's pretty well documented that they want to go young with a coach and also had UMass instead of GW. Just realized UMass is A-10. I guess I missed NCSU's comments about going young. Just thought it'd be a good place for Crean. I agree with everyone else. Crean would be great at a mid-major or SEC school where a tourney appearance and S16 run every 3-6 years is success. I do not think Crean would succeed at a 1-bid conference, low major school, because I don't think he'll ever put together a team/program consistent enough to win conference tournaments. 8bucks Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 So if these soft landing spots-how many have a reasonably good baseball team. I would focus on those Quote

Beachfront Property Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 What is the timeline for a decision? We have cleared one hurdle - Glass did not come out right after the Wisconsin loss and state Crean will be back next year (as Shawn Eichorst did for Tim Miles at Nebraska). Is there a precedent for doing it prior to the NIT? If so, who would coach us during the NIT? I can’t imagine there is an advantage to firing Crean sooner rather than later - as all of the coaches we want are either looking at NCAA runs or the rest of their NBA seasons. I am craving good news (Crean Fired or leaving for another job). What is a realistic timeline? Quote
woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I saw on another board, Crean was a no show at post game presser. Is that true?Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Seems to me like the sooner the better. I don't see any reason to wait, unless we are allowing Crean to finalize his soft landing. But for us, the earlier we get the official news out there the more time we have to get to work with all interested candidates.
