I have zero "inside" info and don't claim to have any but don't be suprised if we hire an NBA coach that's not named Donovan or Stevens. That coach is named Fred Hoiberg. I know he's not nearly as popular as Donovan or Stevens but he has a lot more reason to get out of the his gig currently than the other two. Again this is all gut, no sources.

That would be awful. I would rather have Collins, Holtman, or Miller.

And that bucket of ice water is going to be damn cold if it isn't.

That's the thing that seriously concerns me and that's the idea we could end up hiring a great coach such Miller, Collins, etc but the fanbase will be disappointed cause Billy Donovan's not walking through that door.

If that's the case then i will be so Mad.

I think Collins is a home run hire. He is getting recognition as an NBA coach in the future. Some have even said the Kings and Bulls may have him on their list if a change is made. I think he is right up there with the big names just not on that level yet cause he dont have the resume.

As long as Crean is not frantically pacing and clapping up and down the sideline at Assembly Hall next year. I will give anybody a chance.

I dont not like the idea of Hoiberg here but he isnt coming back to college unless he has no choice. That tells me enough that he wouldnt be fully invested in the job. Remember seeing an interview on NBA TV where he was asked what he likes most about the NBA and said he doesnt have to sell 30 kids on his program each year and thats why he went after transfers cause they were usually more mature. He should find another gig in the NBA if he gets let go. Or he will be an analyst for a year then go back. IU and Fred are just fine without each other.

Is an intra-league coaching switch really likely?  I have a hard time accepting Collins jumping from NW to IU.  Not related to his coaching abilities just accepting the fact that he would move from one B1G to another.

Honestly idk of one off top of my head but it could happen this year. He would be great here just dont think it happens. He is probably a couple notches below others and I am hoping we dont make it past Stevens. Aka Billy D lol but if not him then I would be happy with Bennett, Archie or Collins. Those are my home run type hires. Doesnt mean we still couldnt find a good coach after that bunch but I believe if we missed on all 4 it could be a long process.
