Does magnanimous have reliable sources in the past? Not trying to poke the bear, just curious. Hoping it's true obviously.

I WANT to root for iu to beat PU. Knowing Crean is gone would.help

Can't recall him having inside info in the past, but as others have alluded to, he's been a good poster. I'll be cautiously optimistic

Don't dismiss what magnanimous is saying all together like others have said he's never been one to lie and has been a top notch poster here for a long time.

Those who still think Fred Glass will give Crean another year are either the kind of people who say the opposite of what they hope will happen for fear of their wishes not coming true, or they are not seeing the big picture of what is really happening to the program.

If you really think about it, and see the entire work of Crean's time at IU, and the expectations that Glass himself has mentioned of the job, then it's logical to surmise that it's time for a change.  Also, many of the well sourced and reliable posters on multiple websites are hearing the same thing...Crean is gone at season's end.

Well, if the notification of parting ways officially happened today it will be reported/confirmed by anyone with a good source. Will be interesting to see if a few others confirm this. Will check mine too

It may be that others have heard it, and that's why many are saying wait until the season is over.

If and when.......,..this will be the most exciting offseason for me in a LONG time.

So much to get figured out. Coaching, roster changes, etc... It will be crazy!

Having a coach I have faith in and can rally behind will be a dream come true. (So hopeful we get a proven blue blood type coach who can recruit as well).

Almost literally can't wait.

I 100% want him gone. He should of been gone 2 years ago but for whatever reason we have an ad who had not seen enough is 7 years to see he was not going to get this done. It was mind boggling to me. We have now wasted another two years and i simply have no faith he will get this right. He is blinded by his love of crean and that's a problem.

Would people more in the know than me agree that this means Glass has our next coach already?

This is what I'm prone to believing as well.

Why make the decision to part ways now, after a win against Northwestern and an upcoming game against Purdue, to part ways, unless you already know (or have had extremely positive feedback from potential candidates) who the next coach is?

For all intents and purposes, we are out of the tournament race.  But it's plausible we could beat Purdue, OSU, go on a run in the BTT, and sneak in late.

No inside info obviously, but I'm incredibly encouraged by the odd timing of this.  I think Glass knows he has an obvious upgrade more likely than not to be the next coach.

I don't think so. The notification that it is over is THE info everyone has been looking for and while many have said that things are moving along, nobody but Magnanimous has said it officially happened/ confirmed parting of ways in a meeting that took place today.

This is the most specific bit of info and the most important that has come from anyone thus far. The fact that nobody else has corroborated makes me cautiously optimistic vs over the top excited.

There are three important dominoes. The decision/notification, it being shared publicly and the replacement. This is supposedly part one of 3 and that is significant that anyone with info should know this happened. If one knows who we are talking to then they would know this "meeting" happened.

one other program people sometimes overlook in the "Donovan sweepstakes": Syracuse, with Boeheim already on record as saying he's done in 2018 (if not this year). Donovan would be a natural fit up there, being originally from "Lawnguyland" NY.

IF true, what this tells me is the most likely thing is that FG has reached out via agents to someone like A. Miller or perhaps C. Holtmann and received a tentative "yes"

If the meeting did in fact happen today, it could possibly start leaking to other sources

Syracuse has already announced the name of their next coach.
