Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Stevens and Donovan are the first two calls. After that, Tony Bennett and Archie Miller. But I do like Mack and Collins as wellTiming just isn't there for us to get Billy D or Brad. I think you call them 100% or even 100 times. Billy D there is so many things going on it is hard to figure out what OKC wants to do. They said they could be sellers, then that they will offer Hayward a max deal which would awesome. If they rebuild though it could be perfect timing. Brad and the Celtics have a shot to win the East and have a top 5 pick again at worst coming up. The chance to bring a title to Boston is big time for him. Bennett would be awesome but the personal things that affected us last time may be a reason. Jeff Eisenberg said Tony Bennett will be an option and that he would at least listen. Archie and Collins are two guys who I would gladly take. I like Mack as well. I dont want Holtsman tho honestly idk why but something just tells me his ceiling isnt that high. Greg Marshall would listen but he makes over 3 million now so I dont want to have to pay him some outrageous amount. I am looking forward to seeing who our main candidates end up being if it happens.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER and Hoosier Guy 2 Quote

Trish Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 StevensDonavan Collins That's the order imo. Funny.. Collins will be auditioning for the IU job on senior night. Tom Crean's last game in Assembly Hall, Collins first stepping stone as the new coach. I support Collins. 13 years under coach K. From the Midwest. Understands the game and seems to makes adjustments. Hell, he's about to take Northwestern to the dance. Northwestern is dancing and IU isn't. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app I'm not high on Marshall. I wouldn't really like that hire. He's alright but not what IU needs. I like Bennett and Archie a lot. And I don't think the stuff with Bennett's sister would be a factor. It's a different administration and things change over time. Collins is interesting. I do think he's a good coach. He's about to lead Northwestern to their first NCAA tournament appearance. And his teams generally play fundamentally sound basketball, which is something I can't wait to see once again from IU Yogi's Picnic Basket 1 Quote

Brass Cannon Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Just saw paps news it's both exciting and disappointing at the same time. Could we for once act like an elite program. Alford Bailey and Str8Hoosiers 2 Quote
Jeff_Boy_Ardee Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Just curious because I haven't seen his name mentioned and I feel like it was thrown out a lot after Sampson. What are people's thoughts on Bruce Pearl. Again just curious Quote

What are people's thoughts on Bruce Pearl. Again just curious No, no, and no. Bruce Pearl is a decent coach that loses his luster the longer he's with a program. He's fit for a mid to low tier power 5 job, at best. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 I still think you shoot for the stars. If you never ask the answer will always be no. Hopefully, the right people are already putting together the pitch to high level coaches that could lure them to Btown. My grand slam hires would be Stevens or Donovan. Those are the coaches that would put the college basketball world on notice that IU isn't messing around anymore. After them, you have to talk to Bennett. He hasn't gotten it done in the tourney but with better talent I think he goes the Bo Ryan route and gets there. I heard something on Katz Corner that made sense. At UVA, in the ACC, you're not going to out talent Duke or UNC so you need to scheme better to compete with them. Bennett did just that and won at UVA. At IU, he would have better talent and could open up the offense more while still having defense to fall back on. This would be a home run hire. The next level would all be young coaches who could make IU a contender. Those would include Miller, Holman, Collins, Mack and a few others. They're currently having success at smaller schools without a ton of talent. Will that translate at IU? I believe so and would be solid hires. Regardless, it's time for IU and Crean to move on. I believe both can be better appreciated in different situations. Thank Crean for what he's done and elevate the program back up with a solid hire. We need to get off this roller coaster.
