Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Many of our posters cite our injuries as a reason CTC will be around for another year. I'm not so sure. I don't think injuries are a plausible excuse CTC can use in his own defense. Look around just this year. How many games has Phil Booth missed for 'Nova? Look at Dukies' injury list; Theo Pinson at NC and those are just a couple off the top of my head. Self suspends Carlton Bragg and they still beat pUKe. Consistently well-coached teams find ways to overcome these kinds of adversities and remain competitive. hsrtxp, HoosierAloha, Hoosierfan2017 and 3 others 6 Quote
Gahoosierfan Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 I have been wondering if Crean is aware that he most likely won't be back and if that has affected his coaching (or lack of) at all. thebigweave 1 Quote

southsidehoosier Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Even with injuries we had more 5 and 4 stars on the floor last night than Northwestern and still got beat badly.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app 8bucks, MikeRoberts, HoosierAloha and 1 other 4 Quote
coonhounds Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 If we lose Wednesday i think he is canned after purdue at home. That would be 5 losses in a row and basically end of our chances. This could get ugly Sent from my SM-G920V using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

reconmkd Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Man the Crean supporters have no basis for arguments at all. Just got out of a discussion, in which I stated that despite the injuries we still have a McD's AA, Rojo (Top 50), DD (Top 50), JM possible 4 star, and so on, we should still be good, not great, but good. Her response was, "well did you ever play any sports? Team just doesn't play well together." To which I responded, yes, I played basketball from the 2nd grade through High School and some intermural in college, attending every camp possible that my parents could afford. (Insert eye roll from the woman, who has only ever played tennis), No they aren't playing well together, but it seems like a little playing time would be a remedy, but that should have been taken care of against all the cupcakes in the non-con. Should never have starters in with 5 min left in the game when you are up and comfortable. Her response, well that's on the players for not playing well, not Crean. Jesus ever beloved Christ, omg, fml! I wanted to scream, but that wouldn't go over very well in a cubicle setting! Hoosierfan2017 and thebigweave 2 Quote

Popular Post Stuhoo Posted January 30, 2017 Popular Post Posted January 30, 2017 That Bozich tweet is really bad news for CTC. Not the kind of thing CTC wants tweeted by a smart, nice guy who usually promotes the program and is concerned about press/team access. AND... Rabjohns tweeted about the staff having to hold up "Call Out Screens" basic grade school signs during the game. When the reporters who are attached to the team start to highlight the embarrassing moments... HoosierAloha, MikeRoberts, Napleshoosier and 6 others 9 Quote
Josh Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 I'm ok with that. If you want to be a national program, you have to recruit nationally.I'm also tired of that turd Bryant McIntosh badmouthing IUFIRE HIM! This is embarrassing Quote

While allowable, I believe that happening would be impossible. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Great question. I cannot remember it happening. People will kill me for this but the big ten coach I would want ahead of Collins is Greg Gard. I don't think he would leave Wisconsin, but the Badgers play great basketball and they are good every single year regardless of how many 5 star and 4 star recruits they land. Greg Gard could win a national championship at IU. I know this would never happen - I guess what I am highlighting is that I want an X's and O's coach. MikeRoberts 1 Quote

While allowable, I believe that happening would be impossible. I don't think it would be impossible, I think the reason it doesn't happen is because its a power 5 conference and the coaches have been fairly stable in the conference. You're only going to leave a B1G school to take a high level "elite" job if you are leaving on your own account and those bottom teams in the B1G haven't really produced any top notch coaches in a long time. Last B1G coach I can think of that left for a better job is Bill Self to Kansas. Collins is doing things with Northwestern that have never been done, he is going to get an opportunity for a big time program soon if he continues the path he is on. Penn State, Rutgers, Northwestern (Prior to Collins), Minnesota, Iowa (except maybe Alford and IU was a remote possibility to get Alford), and Nebraska haven't really produced any top coaches and are more likely to hang on to average coaches for longer or get rid of bad coaches more often. Teams like Michigan, Michigan St, Ohio St, Purdue, and IU tend to be destination jobs. Wisconsin, not sure where to put them but I don't see good coaches leaving their to go to a "bigger" program. So while it is rare, I think its more due to the nature and dynamic of the conference then anything else. Also, its worth noting that someone, I believe in this thread somewhere, mentioned Izzo was interested in the IU job previously when it was available and if the interest was mutual at that time, I don't think him being at Michigan St would have been an obstacle. 8bucks 1 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Didn't Tubby leave Georgia for puke? I don't think it's common but it's possible. Collins would be someone I could live with but wouldn't be at the top of the list for me. Quote
Popular Post IUclassof09' Posted January 30, 2017 Popular Post Posted January 30, 2017 Tom Crean has made IU basketball unbearable and frustrating to even watch a whole game. I turned off last nights game early for the first time ever. You just know this team isn't going to come back on the road because our coach doesn't understand how to coach a junior high level defense. This is my first post but I used to be on the old Scout site and I'm over at 24/7 with a different name. I just get tired if that other board because if you say fire tom Crean its seen as taboo.
