WayneFleekHoosier Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Kids are promised playing time all the time when being recruited, and they are giving that time. However I'm sure it's always widely known if you don't perform you won't play. Why do you think Skal has steadily lost more and more minutes. That's purely just my speculation.thats kind of the argument being made. Crean is not as quick as other coaches to pull promised playing time for poor play. At least that is my speculation. 8bucks and Napleshoosier 2 Quote

On this argument who is Crean supposed to cut back minutes on? Quote

MikeRoberts Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Look, point fingers if it helps you, but people with big ideas and no concrete plan for how we will achieve them are the reason we've had three consecutive mediocre hires since Bob Knight was fired. The people in charge of hiring were impatient, and let the impatience of the fans dictate when decisions needed to be made instead of waiting for the right hire.this couldn't be further from the truth. IU fired 3 coaches that needed to he fired. There was no waiting with 2 out of the 3, specific incidents or actions necessitated it. Where they went wrong is in their approach and decision making that led to poor hires. It had nothing to do with poor timing and not waiting for the right hire. They have repeatedly f'd up the end game due to incompetence and motives... Not timing Bittersince87 and 8bucks 2 Quote
Jeff_Boy_Ardee Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I'm glad to see the Hoosiers have turned it around lately, but am also scared our AD is going to become overly excited a little too early again and make another mistake. I have come to accept the fact Crean is not going to get fired, if he's going to be gone I feel it will be after we let the contract run out, unless someone makes it known he wants the job. I will be sick if someone like Mack or Archie take a job in the next few seasons and find great success. How many coaches will we see come and go that we could have had. (Not saying they're the answers, but I personally am very intrigued by them, especially Mack). MikeRoberts 1 Quote
MadAboutIndiana Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Why is it that Chris Mack has not been mentioned much by IU fans until this season when his team is one of the tops in the country.... Not like his program/team just blossomed. IU should stay far, far away from Mack, however. Slime doesn't do him justice! JaybobHoosier 1 Quote

The 2011 Crosstown Brawl, and particularly his response to it is more than enough for me to want to stay away from him. As opposed to Mick Cronin, who led commendably in that incident. Mick would be an interesting candidate for IU, but hasn't done enough to warrant calls from fans. He's a really good coach. MartintheMopMan Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 im thinking from crowd reaction that he has definitely passed the virgins we promised It really puts it into perspective just how hard Priller is living the dream. Free college, best seats in the house for every game, occasional playing time but no pressure, recognized but never harassed for a bad game, never pays for a drink, and absolutely drowning in poon. I wish I were 7-feet-tall and able to trick a blue blood coach into blowing a scholarship on me. ThompsonHoosier, Class of '66 Old Fart, GloryDays and 3 others 6 Quote
hoosierpap Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I know most are completely out on Crean and I get that. His resume does not indicate that he will lead Indiana to the level most picture Indiana basketball reaching, let alone sustaining...and I'm probably right there with you. It also isn't that simple, as the RIGHT replacement needs to be there or you may miss on subsequent recruiting classes. It's really a toss up. So, for the sake of discussion.... 1) What finish do you actually project? 2) What finish do YOU need to give Crean another year, with some degree of reality if possible? 3) What finish do you think Glass will bring Crean back at? Overall (regular season) record: 1) 22-9 (12-6); 2) 24-7 (14-4); 3) 22-9 (12-6) NCAA finish: 1)Sweet sixteen; 2) Elite 8; 3) Rd of 32 And what realistic recruiting class gives him another year and changes (2)? Recruiting class: Markus Howard, Devonte Green, Curtis Jones, De'Ron Davis Keep in mind, that the 17 class is loaded in the state, and the success Crean has this season goes hand in hand with his chances with some of that talent. '18 is also loaded in state. When do you make the change? Time to revisit this. If anyone else responded to this I encourage you to do the same. Looks like if IU goes 1-1 to finish out the year, Tom Crean has earned his right to stay, per my January 19th self. EDIT: If anyone actually does do this it's on page 155. MikeRoberts Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I thought we should be a top 10 team and a top 2 seed in the tourney. That was my preseason expectation. We aren't there yet but can with a few big wins to round this out. Happy with the second half of the season.
