I really don't think Talent is Creans problem.

In another topic it was asserted that when JBJ gets healthy his starting spot is waiting for him regardless of how we play without him for the remainder of the season.  This is probably true.  Which I think is a problem.

We lose JBJ and all of a sudden we play better team ball, we care more about taking care of the basketball and oh yeah we have the best defensive efficiency in the Big Ten.  And yet we are already penciling in a return to the before time.

That to me is why Crean will need to go, failing to address issues on the team because certain guys are guaranteed a starting spot no matter how poorly they play or disinterested they play.  You have to hold players accountable.

Been waiting to bring this back up on two fronts. Is 12-6 still reaching on my end? Where has the praise been. Been far more quiet since we have played better. Curious on both...

I commented on the OSU game even though i had to miss it. Yes, 12-6 is still reaching.

and I'll tell you why; Yogi will dominate every PG in this league if he wants. Especially if he feels threatened. Secondly, TB is too much for everyone excluding Purdue- who we have at home and our guards are light years ahead of theirs. Our defense is #1 in B1G. Troy is a mismatch for almost any CBB player. NZ3 is about to not miss for a few weeks. Too much to handle. We'll drop 2 on the road on bad nights and toss up at Iowa. We are the real deal.

Lol at the Troy comment. So some of you guys still holding onto this notion? He isn't that good

Edit: By that good I mean one of the top players in the nation like some of you make him out to be. Nor is he the matchup nightmare some of you make him out to be

Just for giggles say we land Thon, Bryant stays and JBJ comes back healthy. Anyone think Crean gets to a FF four next year with that group?

If he doesn't get close this year, and didn't in '13, then he won't next year.

You want him to tel JBJ, "hey, sorry about your injury. Stay focused and optimistic. But when you get back, you'll be riding the bench till you earn your spot back."

That'll go well.

Wonder how many of us thought that if all our guys came back and we added TB we would be a FF caliber team this year.

With some searching you could find a thread with some predictions. There were a few, if memory serves, but not an overwhelming opinion.

So you don't make the best decision for your team because you're scared of upsetting one of your players?

Do you think there would be an overwhelming opinion that losing Yogi, NZ, Max but adding Thon and we are a FF team?

Any decision on whether JBJ starts or not will not occur until net season based on the 6-9 month recovery time his dad mentioned. So what is wrong with Crean telling the kid that his spot is there for him when he gets back, just focus on recovering and getting better?

We were actually seeing Crean benching Troy and JBJ for poor play before JBJ was injured.

Pretty sure I did. Probably had some qualifiers regarding JBJ improving his defense, Troy maturing, and TB playing like we hoped, but I think I expected us to be FF contenders.

Chance is still there if we keep up the defensive improvement.
