Fire Fred Glass

I am very uneasy about Glass. He was forced into firing Crean. He bungled the situation with Wilson and the hiring of Allen. No national search. He just ducked and did the weakest thing he could do. It reminds me of his predecessors hiring of Lynch and Davis. He is basically a bean counter. No real sports knowledge. I don't see him a an elite AD. He is way down the list in the B10. I am holding my breath and hoping he doesn't blow this hire. 

What evidence to you have to support the claim that he was forced into firing Crean?

It seems an opinion was posted to this board and 90% ran with it. It's now turned from "he's not going to fire Crean" to "he was forced by the boosters!" I've heard from multiple people that Glass was most definitely not Crean's bff. I guess that narrative is more fun though.

I did see on 247 that one of the posters that seems to be connected has said it sounds like Glass's hand was forced.  Didn't specify how that I saw so it could be mounting losses w/ no soft landing forcing him as opposed to boosters or trustees.

I've heard that from a few people that are known to have sources. Apparently there wasn't some crazy love fest between them like most think.

Yep. Pap has brought that to the board a few times. Just something a few brought to the board. Should be worried about Recker? Dude obsessed over Crean coming back and Fred Glass. Now he doesn't come back lol.

Read this and tell me Glass wasn't under tremendous pressure to fire Crean . Glass knows where his paycheck comes from . He would have risked his job if he hadn't done the right thing.

Several 'experts' complained that it was anonymous posters on boards such as ours that caused FCTC to be fired.  In the grand scheme of things we're a small % of the IU fanbase but I've no doubt that our sentiments correlate very well to the fanbase as a whole and this article makes it pretty clear that the people who do have clout, i.e., $$, were just as ready for a change as we were.

Not going to be able to find the article, but donations to the basketball program were at an all-time high (over $20 mill) last year and had increased almost every year under Crean from $9 mill when he took over. Read that and tell me the donors were really doing all that much to make their displeasure known.

I'm not sure I understand any sentiment behind firing or being upset with Fred Glass.   He didn't hire Crean, and Crean  wasn't going to be let go early in his tenure.  He just wasn't.  Those of us (and I am most definitely in this group) who didn't like what we saw on the floor in years 2 and 3 (offense standing, turnover problems, poor defense, etc) were unhappy with his having a free pass and wondered if he fit.  But we were somewhat silenced by the signing of Cody Zeller, Yogi Ferrell, etc.   Then we won the Big Ten in year 5.   There was no time Crean was going to be fired, no matter what anyone thought.

He has a couple of down years, seat gets hot, but he still has Yogi, and then a decent (on paper) recruiting class.  Wins the Big Ten last season.   The first real time it made sense to make a change, Glass made a change.  He got football right, at least so far; and Indiana is miles ahead of where it was under DiNardo and Lynch.  (Hoeppner would have been so good.  Damn.)   

Baseball is strong, our traditionally strong non-revenue sports (soccer, swimming, tennis) are strong.  Women's basketball has made huge strides following the Jim Izzard days.  And we're making money as a department.  What are people upset with Glass for?

Crean never physically met with Glass. The phrasing was interesting too. Like Crean resigned before he got the news type of thing.
