Wishful thinking or act of desperation on my part I guess. Kills me to see this team this year, I don't think I have ever been so frustrated with so many different games in one season. The OG injury just tore me up, but on the other side I'm hoping that this gives someone the chance to step up with more minutes and prove they need to start over JN.

I'm right there with you. I would like to see more two guard lineups but now that we're down two forwards I'm not sure we have the personnel for that. Hopefully DG and Cujo start to get the minutes that they need. If they can get ~20 a game I think they'll perform well enough that Crean's hand will be forced and one of the two will head to the starting lineup in place of Newkirk.

There's a way to bring along the youngins during the cupcake laden noncon schedule. I believe Davis and Green should both be getting more minutes than they have. Green makes plays on the court that no other player can. Davis is our only true post player. They add much needed dimensions to this team.

I wish I could envision Green or CuJo replacing Newkirk in the starting lineup. However, after seeing this show for so many seasons I don't believe we'll see either in the starting lineup. Crean isn't about that.

I could be completely wrong but it seems like there have been a lot of promises of playing time set in stone during recruitment.

I don't care about the start.  I want to see more minutes for Devonte, particularly.  He impacts the play of the team on both ends of the court.  It's about production.

No doubt about that. I wouldn't bet 50 cents on it happening. It's a shame too because Green can make passes no one else on the roster can even think about making, and Cujo already seems to have nice scoring ability. Newkirk doesn't really have either of those things.

I know Yogi was promised a starting spot. I wouldn't be surprised if JBJ was promised a spot too. It's amazing that everyone sees the difference but Crean.

Green makes mistakes, he's a freshman, but his ceiling is so much higher than Newkirk's. He needs more minutes to gain better feel with the team. He got beat baseline on a drive but recovered to alter the shot. He impacts the game on both ends. I believe we would see better shooting out of our other guards because he sees and can make the pass. Bryant would also see increased production because Green can set him up in scoring position. Newkirk rarely does that.

This is what I'm talking about for those without Instagram. The captions just seem a little weird to me, I'm not sure why. I understand the concern though. Neither team is ranked, and there doesn't seem to be much hype leading up to it. That combination seems to lead to sub-par crowds these days.

Catching up on today's posts re:  OG.  I think he can come back from the surgery, but if I'm an NBA exec, I want to see how he can perform post-surgery before I shell out a big $ contract.  So, he possibly becomes an undrafted free agent or needs to come back to IU to demonstrate that he's physically capable.  And hasn't JBJ had 3 knee surgeries although I don't know how the severity of his injuries compare to what OG has suffered?  And although we couldn't find a spot for him, Mo Creek bounced back for a pretty solid season at George Washington.

Is AJ mad that Jimmy and the team celebrated? Or that we shouldn't be excited about a PSU win?

We should've never been in that spot, but I see a lot of people freaking out about the celebration and I just don't get it. The guy hit a buzzer beater, that's freaking awesome.

It's college basketball. We have been struggling. Penn St. has been playing good and was ahead of us in the standings, not to mention we have struggled against them of late. We were without Juwan and lost OG during the game (and the team knew it wasn't good and no doubt wanted to win this one for him). Let the kids celebrate. I am not afraid to tell you I took a few laps around the room and was fist pumping and celebrating for a solid minute or two so I'm sure as heck not going to sit here and say it's no big deal. I get passionate about my IUBB, I enjoyed that shot and win. Now had this game been at the Hall and we rushed the court then I would understand saying let's pump the brakes a bit, but it was a much needed road win. Just enjoy the good times.

Sounds like no one celebrated because they knew Knight was going to flip out on them.

That is true. In my life I had never experienced a court rush until after Knight was gone. It's just a difference in opinion and a different age. I do know Knight would have flipped out before the 5 second delay had the players celebrated like that in the same scenario against anyone unless it was a title. I am not a fan of it, but it's whatever. I am getting old in my mid 30s.

I understand where AJ is coming from though. When you have expectations of a B1G title and you're consistently the top dog you don't celebrate that way. It was a great shot and much needed. However, it shows the state of where the program is atm, imho.

I'm all about celebrations but if we would have finished the game with tripping all over ourselves we wouldn't have needed that great shot. Too much of a roller coaster these days.
