IUFB Offseason Updates

I think $160 is going to be a steal on game day. Autzen is a small stadium ~54k so guessing there really isn't a bad seat in the house. If IU is undefeated, you're looking at huge Game Day/Big Noon implications as both teams could potentially be in the top 5. Tickets would be a riot on the secondary market in that scenario.

And when we beat them as a 10.5 point underdog it's going to be epic.

When everyone catches on that 10 wins will exponentially increase your chances to play in a 16 team playoff system, this will be the trend for every P4 school. IUFB it just one of the first to do this. And it's some smart moneyball "get on base" type of poop. Schools like Notre Dame will suffer.

Yea.  This is smart.  UVA, especially the road game early in the season, is way more downside than upside.

Every year we play a (usually) grueling nine game P2 conference schedule.  Three low risk games to get ready without getting banged up is the right approach to maximize our post-season opportunities.

One caveat is I hope we keep ND and I’m fine playing very high level opponents like that where a loss isn’t a killer and it’s a huge game.  Though I’m not sure many top-10 programs would do home-homes with us -- we're more downside than upside to be honest.

One way to help the non-cons would be a B1G and SEC challenge where everyone plays each other.  Not sure if the conferences can figure that out, but it would be cool.

It's Moneyball smart. Every P4 will start doing this. Especially if we end up in the CFP this year.

"Mendoza threw for 3,004 yards and 16 touchdowns with six interceptions and blends a strong arm with plus mobility for his size. He can stand and deliver in the pocket with ease and is extremely accurate -- his 5.1% off-target percentage last season was the best in the FBS."

Mendoza hype seems to be gaining some traction of late, as seen in ESPN article and other recent ones...Fortunately, he looks focused and poised to have a breakout season...it also helps to have a strong wide receive corps like we do :)

And things have not got much better since Rout 66.

- Most of their top players left

- Their huge 52(!) player portal class is not very good.  Good luck getting 52 new guys to gel.

- I also saw an article where PUFB is getting less than the standard 75% of the rev share.  And we know their NIL isn't great.

We'll see how Barry does.  So far, not so good.

He'll take our non-con schedule every day of the week.  And they'll end up doing it as well. ND will struggle to schedule games against any B1G and SEC school.  Unless of course there are changes in the current system.

Moneyball scheduling.

Fired at Mizzou. Did well at UNLV.

Likely to fail at Puredump.

Big Ten Media starts today. IUFB is on day one. Here's the schedule.

Will be waiting attentively to see if someone is kind enough to ask Cig to comment on Barry Oh-dumb's veiled shot at IU's schedule.

Cig's response will no doubt be teed up and worth quoting.

I'm betting he'll be a lot more tame this year compared to last year's B1G Media Day.

Agree.  I think he’ll be entertaining, but this year he doesn’t need to make any big statements directed at fans and players with respect to how IUFB is 100% different now under his leadership and staff — last season did a lot of the talking.

Obviously, we are far from done, the process of changing the perception of IUFB is moving along nicely after one year…

It’s nice PU hired a coach where the nicknames O-Dumb and B.O. come so naturally.
