#348 MVSU vs. #3 Indiana Game Thread

1)  I'm sure this is a dumb question, but does this mean we essentially turn it over on 1 out of every 4 possessions?

2)  I'm just unclear if kenpom uses anything else to come up with the turnover rate.

3)  If so, that's hideous.  Imagine how many more shots or free throws we could make if we brought that number down just a little.

YUP as to #1 and #3 - can't answer #2.

If we beat UNC, all of the people that are being so negative are right back on the bandwagon. Kind of annoying, but I get it. Being a fan is emotional.

Not even remotely. Whoopdie do we beat a good team at the hall we have been doing that for years.

A road game against anybody is a complete toss up and that is 100% percent unacceptable.

A win will get people back off the ledge at least. If we get blown out though... I'd hate to be a mod that night.

Why I keep from saying anything much here. I think before last season I was always getting ripped for opinions. Mainly come here to read anymore with a comment here or there

I might have to go that route also

It's often me against the masses. I can usually handle it though.
This board is still the best. I think this board in general, represents the more optimistic of Hoosier fans. I know the Hoosier fans I talk to in Fort Wayne are far less optimistic than we see here. The fans I sat with and around for the IPFW game had the same complaints we see here and then some. Hang in there guys and keep posting. Differing views are important.

I would agree with this. I'm more optimistic on here, posting not DMs, than I am in person. Unfortunately, there are things that Crean just doesn't understand about the game of basketball. I've given up hope that they'll change but won't stop rooting for the Hoosiers.

I think we all have forgotten Crean's comments before the season started after the Kansas game. This team is not even close to their full potential and where most of them will eventually be. We are a good team and will be even better later.

These.  Read that article this morning.  Listened to the whole game, minus a few minutes getting the 4-1/2 year old away from grandma and grandpa and into the car.  One game doesn't mean a thing, one way or another.  Look, you all know I'm an ISU grad, and support them as well as the team I've watched for 41+ years.  Sycamores lost 3 games, all in the last seconds/buzzer beater misses since Thanksgiving Day.  They're still going to be alright in the MVC.

Point is, like others are saying, the Hoosiers have work to do, no doubt.  A healthy OG against IPFW, and those several "3's" by Rojo that, well, know you spot man, and things would be peachy for everyone.  As my dad always says, "It's why they play the games."

Go Hoosiers, beat UNC!

Food for thought, something I've been thinking about since the IPFW game and something that really jumped out in the MVSU game.

What defensive style does IU run under Crean?

We went zone against MVSU... I get these games are meant as live practice games to experiment with different sets but we struggled to keep the #348 ranked team in front of us.

On several possessions in the first half we went from switching everything on the perimeter to not switching. This had several players confused when/if they were switching. Is this necessary?

The best defenses year in and year out have a system that they implement and stick with. Virginia and Wiscy run a pack line. Louisville runs non stop pressure. What is IU's under Crean? Should it be something that's changed?

The simple answer is probably. When we seem to have problems contains simple dribble drive offense year after year, red flags raise.

I thought this year with our personnel would be the end of that but we still seem vulnerable to straight line attacks at the rim. I don't get it.

I thought (hoped) it would change this season as well. We have several players that should be plus defenders but the scheme seems a bit flawed. Newkirk, Green, CuJo, and RoJo should be able to pressure on the perimeter with guys like TB and DD at the rim. JMo and OG are versatile defenders but seemed to not be where they were last season. It's odd.
