  1. Gotta love Coach Woodson. I am about to play at Ultimate Frisbee Nationals in Denver with an IU Alumni team, and he did a sweet and genuine Cameo for the team. I wish he was our Coach this weekend!

I think it’s fine, maybe even a plus to take a home grown low ceiling kid. But taking too many of them at once can really water down a roster. Purdue will have Waddell, Brandon Smith, and Benter at the same time for three years. That’s a lot of low ceiling players to float.

  3. Sounds like from his interview that the older guys are doing as much coaching as Woody & the assistants. That's a very good thing.

Really curious to see where we go from here. I love me some IJ. He has the tools to be a 5 that can switch on the perimeter defensively and not be awful. But he is still really raw, he still was jumping at so much late last year. Dude needs minutes I don't want him cause of how often he is injured, but I wonder if it is wort trading for Hayward. Something like a trade centered around MT for Haywayrd+Bouknight+1st rounder. Hayward's contract is so bad, but it is up at the time we'd be looking to extend Hali. We have the cap space to absorb bad contracts for assets

  7. There’s something really strange about taking a job at a place like IU and then acting like you don’t care about the legacy.

    IUWBB - News and Notes

I'm excited about Garzon and her hustle during that play was outstanding. But unless the rules are different there it was a blown call. She was well out of bounds, with a foot on the ground, when she tipped it off of the German player.

  9. Crean being on the illustration for this article is hilariously on-point. The college athletics mindset behind working hours is nuts and not conducive to being productive at all.

  10. Really interesting. The description reminds me of seeing Darius Garland play at EYBL. Smallish, unassuming kid on the court before the game, tucking in his jersey and looking around like it's his first time. Then the action starts and he was just a flash, going 1.5x the speed of every other player on the court. The doubter in me is also reminded of the reports of Khristian, which weren't far off from this and obviously never panned out. Khristian played a year up with Trey and Leal on the adidas circuit, and was outshined by both of them, whereas this kid seems to play up and still be the attention grabber. And that offer list for Mikel is already nuts. Another comp. Luke Brown who offered the same kind of excitement, but he always ducked major competition in AAU so no one ever got a real look at him. This kid is already putting himself against top competition. Watching those highlights in the IDH article, wooo boy him feed the bigs was beautiful. He's already got a running floater, which is critical for any small guard. And that shot release is fast enough that it somewhat mitigates being 5'11".

  11. Adam Finkelstein on Brown at the Adidas All-American Camp Ignore the look test with Mikel Brown. He was one of the youngest and smallest players in the camp. He also hasn’t even begun to fill-out his frame. In other words, he didn’t look like he belonged at first glance. But, when everything was said and done, he might have been the most impactful player in the five-on-five segment. What the rising sophomore may lack in size and strength at this point, he compensates for with skill and feel for the game. Whether it was dancing with his handle, changing pace, knocking down open threes, shaking his man for pull-ups, or whipping passes off the dribble (with both hands), he made a series of high-level plays that backed up the hype after landing early offers from the likes of Indiana, Maryland, Baylor, Auburn, Florida, Texas A&M, and Seton Hall among others.

Ian Curtis would have turned 66 today. The quality of the catalog given their short duration and how young those guys were is just something. Bassist Peter Hook’s books on Joy Division and New Order are terrific reads. Transmission is kind of a lazy choice on my part, but I freaking love it, so there you go.

https://www.si.com/.amp/college/2022/07/14/power-5-desirability-rankings-sec-big-ten-acc Nice article from SI ranking the desirability of all power 5 colleges. It’s not perfect, but the end result is in line with the general sentiment. IU is #49 out of 69. Top 5 available is no big surprise. 18. I believe official roster actually has him at 6’6”. This picture seems to justify that. With shoes, of course. [emoji12] Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app

  19. On3 talked with a handful of prospects about how their recruiting is going. 4-star Coen Carr (SF) On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 54 Legacy Early College (SC) | Class of 2023 Which schools are recruiting you the hardest? Vanderbilt, Indiana, Cincinnati, Tennessee State, Tennessee. What schools would you like to visit? UConn, Cincinnati, LSU, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, NC State. Did you have a dream school growing up? Oregon. Which college coach would you say you’ve formed the closest relationship with and why? Coach Stackhouse (Vanderbilt) because he’s been to the NBA and he played by position at the highest level. Also, Coach Ya (Yasir Rosemond) at Indiana because I’ve known him since I was a freshman. Is there anybody you’d like to team up with in college or is anyone recruiting you to join them? Stephon Castle (UConn) and Gabe Cupps (Indiana) have been recruiting me a lot.
