Yes, but not at the five spot.
The red team guarded DeRon and had a choice of Clifton or Freddie to do so. It was Freddie that guarded Davis.

Here’s what I saw:

1) When I watch b-ball, there seems to be one or two players who stand out as the alpha dogs. For me tonight? The alpha dog was DeVonte Green.

2) CuJo still looked tentative.

3) The sky is the limit for Clifton Moore.

4) The packline defense was in place. Help on the drivers! Much less allowed on the baseline.

5) Race may help down the road, but I’ll betcha anything he stays as a redshirt this year.

6) If either McRoberts or Priller log 5-10 minutes per game, we will kinda suck.

7) Vijay Blackmon and Ethan Lasko would destroy Jonny Jaeger and Quentin Taylor in a game of two on two.

8) DeRon and Juwan looked healthy and solid.

Some Minny insiders told me Race is rehabbing some stuff ATM. And the Redshirt was to help him get to 100 percent. So may not be an option not to Redshirt.

Archie uses a pretty tight rotation. Currently, I expect that rotation of eight to be:
Davis, Morgan, Hartman, Green, Rojo, Newkirk, CuJo, and Moore.

I think McSwain will get minutes at the 5 this year. Dude is a bruiser. Otherwise I agree. Cujo is going to have to put in work to see minutes IMO. Way too passive.

I stood in line for 4 hours to get in. Totally worth it.

I definitely feel like it was more business-oriented this year as compared to the Crean years. Less videos, fireworks, filler kind of stuff. It worked in some areas but did feel lacking in others IMO. Not a big deal.

As far as the scrimmage goes, a few observations:

- Devonte was the best player on the court tonight, and as Stu said, the alpha dog. He looks really confident out there. Still makes some unnecessary plays and can get flashy, but I feel like Archie will bring the best out in him.

- Rob was his normal, steady self. I feel like he’ll have to bail us out this year quite a bit on O. Hope he’s up to the challenge.

- De’ron and Juwan were solid, but nothing really stood out. They both had some nice post moves and De’ron showed a mid-range J.

- Cujo still isn’t impressing me. Plays lackadaisical and tentative. Still looks weak when driving. Might need his shooting at some point, however. 

- We may not see it this year, but Clifton is going to be a big time player in the coming years. Hope he stays long enough for us to witness it.

- Other guys that did some solid things were  Race, Freddie, and Justin.

Overall it was a great time, and can’t wait to go back next year!

Freddie can carve out a role on this team. He's our second best option defending the post. On offense his man will sag to clog the lane. If we can incorporate him in some high ball screens we can get open looks or backcuts on the weak side.
