Chicago Cubs Thread

As a Tigers fan, I've had to watch firsthand just how lucky the Indians have been time after time this season, and that was just yet another example.

Also, I thought people were overreacting when they put the Indians in the World Series after they got Miller, but man, that guy has been out of this world. Like I said, the Indians have gotten every break all year.

Strike zone was iffy, both ways.  Cubs can NOT leave men on like that.  Worried? Not even a little bit.  Jake on the mound tonight, and if he's got his stuff, the bats/runs will come from the offense.  Just don't see them falling behind 0-2.  Win tonight, then, take care of Wrigley.  Want to see them win it at home.  On another note, the whole All-Star game deciding the home field for the World Series is bunk.  Best record in baseball and they don't get home field advantage.  Oh well.  As I've been saying the whole post-season:  see the ball, hit the ball.

I have always been a fan of letting interleague play determine home field in the World Series.  Strike zone was absolutely horrid, I used to be a purist but the advanced analytics showing just how bad officials are at calling balls and strikes has put me in the camp that we should let a machine do that.  You still need all the officials to make the other calls, determine if a guy swung, etc etc etc.  But have there be something telling the home plate ump in real time if a ball was in the strike zone.

If the Cubs don't win tonight series is basically over I think.  Can't imagine the Indiana losing 4 of 5

I'm hoping for a W tonight, then, close it out at Wrigley.  Especially if Kluber throws game 4?  In Wrigley?  Cubs should hit him early and often.  Just like they did Bumgarner.  Same for Kershaw.  I think dominate Jake shows up tonight.  Schwarber goes yard as well.

I think its unrealistic to ever think you are going to win 4 straight against a WS caliber team.  Those are very long odds.

We hit the ball well last night. Just didn't capitalize when we needed to. Kluber was a much better pitcher than I thought, but well bounce back tonight against Bauer. We got killed by Kershaw in his first outing, and then he tried pitching again, look what happened. Miller is good but he's beatable, we just gotta score when we have RISP. Hopefully the Cubs will get at it early and often tonight and they give the Indians hell.

Francona has won 9 straight as a manager. Baseball is weird.

Yeah just because it happens doesn't mean it the odds are in favor of it happening.  And on that note, is it really realistic to think the Cubs are going to win 4 straight against a guy who has never lost a WS game?

No, but there's a first for everything.  For me, yes, I'd love to see it, but, cliche as it sounds, 1 game at a time.  They really need to just go back to Cubs baseball.  Wait on your pitch, then, hit it.  Simplicity.
