Well, whatever the confusion is, it isn't intentional if true.

Hey....we actually agree on something?  That Lagow needs to go?  Nice.

There were people calling names earlier this season who disagreed.  I must have confused you as being in that group.

He's a LB now, and I think he's been pretty decent there.  I agree we need to make a change but are we just throwing out names of anyone that has ever played QB?  How long before someone says Natee?

I posted the following after last week's game against OSU:

We're 5 games into the season; Lagow is not the answer at QB and I'm not sure we have an answer on the squad.   Yes, he had 2 TD's, but that's not the sole measure of a successful QB and IMO his overall level of play just doesn't cut it in the B1G.  And FWIW, I'm not all that hyped on our play calling.

I reiterate - Lagow is not the answer and I'm not sure we have an answer on the squad.

We dont have an answer on the squad. A total fail on Wilson. Unbelievable to me that we do not have a decent QB for this offense.

Unfortunately a huge drop off at quarterback and running back for this team. Lagow is an average QB. Not good enough. Not as bad as others suggest either.

Also, if we had Howard or Coleman still our offense would open up.

We are hanging with tough teams. We aren't THAT far off.

Need to get a few more wins to maintain recruiting MO.

We could hang with teams last season though.  At some point that's not enough if the results aren't going our way.

Last year we had the QB and not the defense, this year the opposite.

I think that's unfair criticism. We had an NFL QB for the last four years. 2014 was an unlucky year with injuries and late transfers. As inconsistent as Lagow has been you can't deny his talent. He was the top JUCO QB recruit. Remember we were a finalist for the top JUCO QB recruit the year before? Can't blame Chad Kelly for not wanting to sit behind Sudfeld last year.

Austin King was a high three star recruit who is still only a redshirt freshman. He'll be ready to compete next year. Peyton Ramsey is a winner. Our QB situation is really no different than most P5 teams outside of the Big XII (where they don't play defense [emoji1]). You recruit kids you think fit your system. Sometimes you get lucky with a Sudfeld, most other times you're still looking for the guy.

In the meantime, we may have to continue to switch between Lagow and Zander. And it's not like there's no room for Lagow to improve. He's only six games into his IU career. This will be a big offseason for him to improve mechanics and accuracy.

This season is very much still alive. I think most of us had this team at 3-3 after the first six games. Purdue, Rutgers and Maryland are very winnable games, and we have a good chance against Northwestern and Penn State.

The goal remains the same, win a bowl game!

Here's the thing with Lagow, he can throw the deep ball in terms of arm strength, but his accuracy is so bad it leads to many interceptions. Zander may not have the arm to make those throws, but he won't turn it over as much either and he brings the running game to the field as well. I don't really care if we go to Zander or Cameron (Hell, even Austin King or Peyton Ramsey), but Lagow isn't getting the job done.

For those who were watching at home what were the commentators saying about the so called fumble where the refs said that the Nebraska player was down?

It wasn't a fumble. But would have stood if it had been ruled that way. Which is frustrating because the 2 closest officials called it one.

Agreed.  At some point we have to stop settling for some "well we were close, maybe soon" moral victory.

Defense is much better though, still needs work but better than I expected on the first year with Allen.

Good QB play away from being 5-1.  That's frustrating.

Here's what we know. Lagow has accuracy issues and doesn't always know the playbook. Zander brings the threat as a runner but can't throw past the LOS. Alone they are both weaknesses. I think our best bet is to just treat it like we did with Sud/Roberson back a few years ago. Play both QB's to keep the defense on their toes.

I don't like that approach for two reasons:

1)  It makes it difficult for one to get a rhythm going.

2)  It makes the offense more predictable.  Diamont in?  It's almost certainly a run so the defense will be stacking the box and pinning their ears back.

I do think something needs to be done, but at the same time I don't really like any of the options.
