Tod McShay said on his pod " I have it on good authority, Coach Cig doesn't want to leave Indiana. He wants to shove the IU program up everybody's @$$ sideways". Thought that was pretty in-line with Cig's personality lol.

Lmao.

Coach is 64 years old, if he was in his 40s or even early 50s I would say it is very likely he would leave for an elite program. I realize there are coaches who coach into the mid to late 70s, but here at Indiana he has the chance to build a program that will bear his stamp for decades! If he goes to one of those elite football schools he will just be the next successful coach, just one of many! Here at Indiana he will be immortalized and nothing says IU can't be elite if he continues to build this program!

This is an odd rumor.

Adidas makes uniforms and shoes and sells crappy merch.  I highly doubt they have any involvement in major athletic dept decisions.  It’s not like PSU FB losing some games has any impact on Adidas’ bottom line.

I doubt it Cig would be any more successful than Franklin at Pent State if it all washed out.

What’s an elite program?  If in the decade Coach takes IU into eliteness wouldn’t IU be young elite program?

For sure.  I’m just commenting on the rumor, which is an interesting one.  Not trying to be critical of your post at all.

This is sort of what Cig has hinted at during some campus functions with students, etc.  To basically quote, "this has my name on it."

I saw it yesterday. Has since been refuted by some PSU people.

It’s crazy, and I don’t really believe it how it’s being portrayed, but it does make a little bit of sense. When that deal kicks in, PSU will be one of if not the biggest Adidas CFB asset. There are rumors that Franklin was heavily against leaving Nike. If PSU was out there looking for money to get this done, I can see Adidas stepping up. The “Adidas pushed to get this done” part doesn’t sound too likely though.

I don't know man, if I'm an exec at Adidas I'm on the horn and making sure IUFB gets some attention. You know, the current hot ticket that sells. That's like sells 101. But that's just me.

I don’t think the PSU thing, whether it’s real or not, stops that from happening.

Absolutely, I'm just pointing out that from a business perspective, like Adidas, CFB assets are a current in the now thing. Especially with NIL and the portal.

You’d think we’ll get some love from those guys soon. Unfortunately I’ll believe it when I see it.

With what has transpired since 2024, I wish Scott would meet with them and update the deal.  Things have changed and IUFB’s exposure and needs are completely different now.

Of course we have a contract and Adidas doesn’t have to do anything, but there is more opportunity here for both sides.

I’m not second guessing Scott, he is the man and he knows what he is doing, it just seems like our apparel deal doesn’t match what IU athletics is now.

Pretty good spot for both parties. It's amazing what can happen when a school focuses on the football program. ;-)
