X-Hoosier Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 dont forget Louisville I'm sure you will have them losing that as well so 8 to go right Idk about Louisville. Their team is Lee and Lewis this year. But they're a Pitino coached team. They'll bring it. Good PG as well. I don't know how good they'll be. They'll probably be where we are at. Quote
HoosierAloha Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 The pg spot also concerns me. I hope RoJo spends the entire summer working on his handles and transitions into a solid ball handler and decision maker. If he's able to do that the frosh could be brought along a bit slower like we saw with OG and JMor. If it's not RoJo hopefully Newkirk is fully recovered and is able to run the team. IUsafety 1 Quote

Popular Post HoosierAloha Posted February 28, 2016 Popular Post Posted February 28, 2016 little early to project losses for a team 1 year away don't u think? I would at least want to see who we got in the unbalanced big 10 schedule next year PSA: FortWayneHoosier, Hoosierboy1980, LIHoosier and 10 others 13 Quote
hoosierpap Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 I commented earlier about JBJ's areas that need improved, imo. I think they're important. But I do also think JBJ becomes a better player without Yogi. That's just a theory, but seems to be some conflict between the two on the court. Naturalhoosier, HoosierAloha and Napleshoosier 3 Quote

Popular Post Stuhoo Posted February 28, 2016 Popular Post Posted February 28, 2016 I'm a little concerned with the PG position. We have no real insight into Newkirk, it's sorta the wild card. No one is going to replace senior YF and I do feel like his loss will be felt more than most are leading on. So I guess keys for me are can Rojo, Newkirk and the freshmen handle the load at PG? I have confidence that Rojo can take that next step. IU loses a lot of scoring in YF. To me, depending on JBJ's recovery, it's huge that he takes that next step. He can score, but he needs to do some of the other things that make the team better. Yes, mainly defense, which could be a task after 3 knee injuries. But also things like keep the ball moving, don't drive into the trees, communicate, etc. If Troy comes back, I'm just done expecting anything different. He'll have those "wow" games, and have those "wtf" games. TB (if he returns) and DD are going to be huge down low. I'm not sure if Crean starts both. DD will not have a high point total, imo, but will really help on defense and O/D rebounding. OG and Juwan...probably the most exciting thing about next year, for me, is seeing their improvement. Pretty sure one of those recruiting gurus said no one in the entire class had improved more from one summer to the next with OG. So trajectory. is. good. I am not worried. Newkirk is allegedly a plus defender, and a fantastic character guy. Our team will be different without Yogi, for sure. We won't have that last five seconds of the shot clock guy, to the team's detriment. On the other hand, Rojo, OG, and Juwan will continue to develop. Will we be 'better'? I don't know, but: I'm quite certain that we will be quite good. Contention good. As good as anyone on a given day good. Good enough to not play our best and beat a mediocre team good. Good enough to play our best and beat anyone good. Multiple guys that can guard multiple positions good. Multiple shooters that have to be accounted for good. With player-driven leadership. RoJo and Colinn are ready to assume leadership roles. DEEP with real, quality players. At the very least, RoJo, OG, Juwan, TB, Colinn, DeRon. Then, find two or three more quality players from Devonte, JBJ, Josh N, CuJo. HoosierAloha, Naturalhoosier, waitingon6 and 9 others 12 Quote
Naturalhoosier Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 What makes you say that? Crud, sorry. Missed this. As Hova mentioned, Troy graduates after this year. No reason to hang out. Plus his outspoken mother has all but said that it's all about the money for the William's family. No reason for him to hang out and risk injury. I'd love to be wrong and watch him have a Oladipo-like jump but I just don't see him putting in the effort necessary. Just my opinion...Oladipo really raised the level when it comes to work ethic and personal progress which is difficult for anyone to match. biteoftheapple Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I have a feeling Hartman will turn into a all big ten guy next year. I would like this as much as the next guy on this board. But, he just does not have the game that receives the votes needed for this. He always gives max effort and is a glue guy on the court. But, just not the star power. Stuhoo 1 Quote

I agree with you right now he does not have the star power, but with an increased role next year and a good offseason of development, he could very well obtain the star power. waitingon6 1 Quote

If dirtbag Pitino remains, they will be better. Their scrappy, gritty style takes our guys out of their game. We rarely play well in those types of games. NCAA may have enough to say to deplete them. So who knows. We got a shot though. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Can't predict our team yet without seeing who leaves and who stays. If TB and JB return plus our pieces we should be good. HoosierAloha 1 Quote

On big finale last night shon Morris and mike decoursey picked an all March madness team for the entire big 10 ( yogi was picked 2nd after Denzel ) but decoursey said for his last picked he thought about picking Hartman because of the little things he does during the game. But what money is he leaving for? I don't think he gets the evaluation he wants back from the NBA. From there he can make his decision...try to improve his stock over the year, risk not being drafted and try to make a team. I just think it's pretty murky for TW right now.
