It was closer to 8 this morning for me to get some news but I'm changing from 80% Romeo to IU to 98% Romeo to IU. I think that will be the first shoe to drop of a Great IU summer.

Timely? Idk, he and others got ripped to shreds saying DG was going to vandy and now the same is happening about Romeo going elsewhere. Not everything posted has to be sunshine and rainbows for IU. There are IU fans of all sorts and here is plenty of reason to be skeptical. IU has missed on these types of recruited for the past 20 years. Being a skeptic doesn't make one less of a fan.

Who is speaking of inferences and what does that have to do with my post? You like to trash posters that disagree with you, that has been a recurring theme in your posts.

It has been tough being a proud IU fan and until Archie and IU sets a new standard for success, I don't blame any IU fan for being skeptical about our ability to land recruits nor win games.

I don't know why they have to be called out at every turn/called trolls.

Yes, you moved the bar a little here but we have gotten what, 1 top 5 recruit which is what Romeo is in the past 20 years or so.

That doesn't make for a good track record or reason to feel confident. So, trashing anyone that is skeptical and labeling a troll is in my opinion unfair

I guess you fancy yourself the protector of free speech on the board. That's admirable of you. I'm wondering why then you seem to have such an issue with me expressing my thoughts. Apparently a theme of mine is "trashing anyone that disagrees with me". I've responded with some sarcasm to some accounts that have made a habit of coming out of the woodwork when there's an opportunity to pass on negative news or opinions. I guess you could construe that as "trashing", but I wouldn't.

I responded with some sarcasm to this because what else should I do? I don't even know what to make of it. It's three different thoughts in one sentence that only leads to more questions. What Vandy insider? What is his info? How do you know his info is great? Do you know Meyer's reasoning? I suppose I could ask those questions, but it'd be pretty useless considering ranger's history. So, again, sorry for being sarcastic. Didn't mean to offend.

Meyer has no new info he just felt Garland going to vandy was enough to move the needle

Vonleh and Gordon were both top ten. I'm not testing anyone not did I. But we normally list them to blue bloods. Not vandy of all places.

Stop testing me Bailey:) no I know, losing our target recruits to vandy is new but losing them in general isn't. That's why I don't blame some for doubting our ability to, we have just failed to bring in these guys at a high clip over the last 20+ years.

We need to get back to a place where when we set our sites on 5 kids we almost know with certainty we land 3 of them. That's how it used to be and that is how it is at uk, Duke, Kansas, unc etc. we aren't anywhere near that so why bash the crap out of people that have doubt? Are they the crazy ones or is it the unbridled optimists that are basing their confidence in hope and love and little more?

Where did I bash you? I agree of all the blue bloods in the last 25 years we've been a joke compared to them. The rest have continued to be great and all we do is rebuild after rebuild. I kn ow it's archives first year but losing a top 5 instate guy to vandy would be a new low. If he doesn't pick iu I think it's Kansas. I really do. I just can't see a guy like Romeo not playing in front of packed crazy gyms imo.

As much as I love reading all the pleasantries being exchanged, let's chill the *bleep* out for a minute.

1) Losing top recruits sucks. Losing top in-state recruits sucks even more. Losing a top in state recruit to Vanderbilt... Well, we all agree on what that is.

2) Romeo Langford isn't signing for another 5 months, so let's pace ourselves. If he doesn't choose us it doesn't have much to do with CAM. It has to do with the insufficient roster he's inherited and the inefficient play style he has to flush out of his players basketball minds. He's coaching and recruiting handicapped this year.
However, if he does choose us it speaks a ton about CAM and how he and the staff get through to these top targets. And that's promising. *salivates*
Until April, we won't know.

3) People handle things differently. Generally your optimists handle the process of a rebuild with more patience and less panic, but are more let down when certain goals aren't met. Your pessimists hate a rebuild because it just can't happen fast enough, but are well-prepared for shortcomings. As long as these two mindsets are expressed with some sensibility and read into with an open mind, one shouldn't supremely irritate the other.

4) 2019 and beyond is where CAM proves himself. Skepticism in moderation is fine. Optimism in moderation is fine. Looking for a reason to get offended and have a pissing contest about it in front of everyone else is not. Keep that part in the DMs. It happened the last few days before Garland's committment and afterward when most people were stressed about him. I get it. But there is no sign of Romeo committing anytime soon, and if the bickering goes on until April I'll lose my mind.

My apologies for feeding into the issue.
