Phinisee, Hunter, Anderson, Forrester, Thompson  > Newkirk, Johnson, Hartman, McSwain, Priller. Obviously getting Romeo is a major upgrade in itself, but the guys we have coming in immediately fix the biggest issue we had this season, which was shooting. I know it seems out of the realm to think Phinisee can come right in and excel at the point his freshman year, but if Yogi can do it, why can’t he? Yes, I know, Yogi was regarded as the higher class recruit coming in than what Phinisee is, but still doesn’t dismiss the fact that  Phinisee isn’t going to be able to do it as well. It’s obviously gonna be a wait and see type of thing, and nothing is guaranteed, but to say I’m excited about what our roster could look like next season is an understatement.
Yogi was surrounded by tremendous talent. RP will not have that and it is totally unfair to expect four freshman ranked around the 100 mark to come in and make major contributions right away . It's unrealistic yet people get delusions every year that these guys will contribute from day one. I feel many of you guys are placing completely unrealistic expectations on the frosh and especiaslly rob.

No they don't. None of them in that group will be as good as Johnson was as a SR. Anderson and Forrester probably won't be seeing much time at all. I am glad we're getting all the kids we are... but they aren't the second coming. Also.. we would be incredibly lucky if Phinisee is as good as Yogi as a FR (which amounted to an OK role player).

Have heard Archie would rather make it to tomorrow's game, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see him there tonight. With the game ending so late last night and having to fly back and then get right back on the road for a game he knows Romeo will likely win I don't expect him there until tomorrow. Yes I know traveling is part of the job before anyone says anything lol, but in this case he should have at least one more shot to see him. I haven't heard or seen anything about Vandy or Kansas being there tonight or tomorrow either yet, but I expect one of them tomorrow as well if New Albany does win tonight.

Kansas will be in Oklahoma tomorrow playing Oklahoma st and Vandy will be in Mississippi playing Ole Miss so I doubt either one of them will be in attendance tomorrow night

That is indeed a fair point that Yogi came in with more talent right off the bat while Phinisee will have unproven freshman to work with, and I totally agree...but I’m still not gonna assume Phinisee is gonna come in and be a project. People can either look at it as unfair expectations, or confidence in the opinion that the class coming in excels the seniors leaving the program.

We are losing one senior with real rotation value: RoJo.
He’s a good one (especially defensively) but he is only one.

McSwain was very solid. Easily replaceable for sure, but he still has some value.

Brad Davison played pretty well for a freshman around the 100 mark on 1 good arm. All B1G freshman team. No one will know until next year what impact RP will have on the team as a freshman. Side note I will take Brad Davison on my team any day of the week over most of the pg that were rated ahead of him. That kid is a winner and will be all conference multiple years

I am not saying one or two of the frosh will have good years  but to expect all four or five to give major contributions is not realistic. They simply are not ranked high enough. They are not all going to come in and play right away. We have to add some grad transfers and romeo is a must get. An absolute must get.

After the vaunted movement class which I like many of you are doing now with next year’s class thought was going to be incredible. I expected Yogi, Hanner, and Jeremy all to make major contributions the first year.  Heck I remember people saying Jurkin would see minutes the first year. Only one of the three did. I have learned since it is incredibly hard for freshmen to come into the college game and make major contributions right off the bat unless they are a very highly ranked player wish great talent. It is a huge adjustment. My expectations for freshmen now are much more tame.

Romeo is all ours it sounds like this weekend. Only good news about losing to Rutgers.

I agree that by no means do we have a superstar stud class coming in. However, I do see it as one that will be an instant upgrade in the talent we were missing this season.

You’re saying Archie has just two visits left?

CAM has 2 left. Depending on how IU’s compliance office views sectionals, technically he could go tonight and tomorrow and it would only count as 1 visit. Some compliance office view all games within a sectional as a single tournament so all games would be 1 visit for sectionals others view it as each game within a sectional counts as a visit

Guys, there is almost no reason to suspect our PG play between DG and RP will not be better than this year. That was a huge issue I called out at the beginning of this season, and it's something I think will be marginally improved next year. Additionally, I think its extremely reasonable to bet that DA  will be a better off the bench 3 point specialist than Hartman was this year, and that Al and Justin will make reasonable improvement in the offseason.

I truly only see us missing Rob's inconsistent scoring production and consistent defense, but I think as a whole the team will improve enough on defense to cover that gap and then some. I'm confident that we're a double digit seed tournament team next year, assuming Juwan Morgan returns (I think he will).

Any serviceable grad transfer and Romeo will take us to a Sweet Sixteen contender, in my completely worthless estimations.
