(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

Recommended Posts

I think it is to early to panic lets see if Romeo visits iu again. Imo if he visits again we are at least seriously being considered. If romeo does not make another visit then i think the writing is on the wall and he going to vandy. If someone disagrees with this that is fine as i am not claiming to know anything so dont get all up in arms lol

Well, this is not encouraging. Might as well lock this thread now.

"Inner circle". Is his source Tim Langford? Because that's the extent of the inner circle. Perhaps extended to include the trainer that he attended the IU-Northwestern game with.

I think it’s funny how many recruiting “theories” are going to be proven right or wrong by this decision. The BtownBanners theorists may get their predictions right, but that doesn’t necessarily make there version of the events that led to the decision right. I am seeing much more conjecture than evidence being thrown around.

What does Sean have to do with Archie? IU has routinely brought in five star talent, so getting a couple of five star recruits is nothing new for this program.

As far as Shittu is concerned, he was going to Arizona until the FBI arrests occurred. UNC and UK recruited him heavily then suddenly dropped out and he went to Vanderbilt of all places. That was absolutely a dirty recruitment. Now Drew is going hard after former Auburn commit EJ Montgomery. Nothing shady there at all. No sir.

I checked Archie's bio to be sure -- he and Sean are brothers. And early in Archie's career, he worked for Sean. And Sean is now accused of being dirty. Many are saying that because Scott Drew has a shady reputation, that Bryce's recruiting must be questioned as well. So while I don't question Archie's integrity, it could be easy for some to do so because of Sean -- just as they are with the Drews.

And how do you know that Shittu's recruitment was "absolutely" dirty?

Ask North Carolina and Notre Dame.

We aren’t accusing Bryce Drew of being dirty because of his brother. We are accusing him of being dirty because he is dirty. Can you trust a guy who parks in the handicap space of a Steak’n’Shake? A person’s true character is revealed in their day to day behavior when they aren’t in front of the camera.

So if the NCAA makes allegations against Drew and Vandy, their main evidence is gonna be where he parks at a restaurant?

Some of you guys that ignore that recruiting is shady is beyond baffling to me. It actually requires a lack of logic and reasoning.

All the evidence is right in front of your faces. Has been. Now even with specifics from the FBI. Heck, Chris Webber got 200k YEARS ago. It's how these things work. The sooner you accept that, the sooner recruiting will start making some sense to you.

The families accepting the money/gifts aren't doing anything wrong imo. I don't view the families badly. I'd probably do the same thing. If my kid was good enough that some University wanted to "employ" him for 100k plus gifts and education. I'd accept it. It's a broken system that has been skirted around for decades.

I'd like to see what Trey Lyles got, Goodluck Okonbonoh, Billy Preston and countless others that handled things more discreetly. Heck, it looks like every recruit at Arizona gets paid. Lol.

Maybe brand building isn’t the best way to describe it. My point is that Romeo is getting way more hype which keeps his name buzzing around the Nation helped by crazy Indiana fans like ourselves.  If he committed out of state, IU fans and local IU media wouldn’t be staying around 2hrs after a high school game to see him.

If that were the case it would be a lot less sweat off his sack. Would be a lot less stressful not having to meet all these strangers and he could be a kid. Seems kind of illogical to me.

I would bet a nonzero sum of money on Drew being dirty.

- Coaches at a non-basketball school with a small fan base

- is a total doofus during games

- Lands multiple top 10 players in one year at said school

- one of those commits was connected to other shady schools before deciding to go to Vanderbilt

- recruiting another top 10 player that was a near lock for a shady school before they got busted

I have zero doubt in my mind that Vanderbilt is doing shady stuff to land these recruits. Romeo going to Vandy would only solidify that belief. It wouldn't even be about sour grapes if we miss on Romeo. There's too much smoke for there not to be any fire.

You don't think he enjoys being an absolute superstar with kids and adults worshipping him? Few NBA players even bring this much adoration. Plus, as a perk, it's great for the image.

Who is the source within the Nashville/AAU circuit?

That Point God Crew guy who said nothing about the game tomorrow. He was the one that came with DG to his OV and is in with Vandy. He was active on Twitter but nothing about Vandy, whereas when DG was going to commit he was very active about DG.

....and Bill Walton corroborated John Wooden’s cheating at UCLA. That’s how Wooden achieved a billion NCAA championships!

Well considering that the prevailing theory is that he is doing all this to avoid backlash.... no.

I took to mean a Vandy inner circle, not Langford's.

That's not my theory. My theory is he is waiting to make it look like it was a REALLY tough decision and he would have loved to play at Indiana BUT he just loves Bryce Drew and Garland and how they plan to use him. It was so hard, he had to think about his decision all season long. optics.

Pretty much what Wilkes did as well.
