(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

To me, if this is even for real, it only makes me feel better about IU landing Romeo. I'm sorry, I just don't see a reason for Romeo to go to Vandy. I was more worried about UNC and KU.

Way back in this thread, I said Vanderbilt would be the dark horse. Of course, Louisville was still in the equation at the time. Vanderbilt is a great school and if not for more a basketball decision, I’d be a little weary. But it’s not and IU is gonna reap the benefits

Yep relax guys. This doesn’t change a thing. All it means is that education is very important as well to these players. IU is still gonna win out here. Trust the process

I don't think we know what it means. That's just looking at it from an 'outsider' view b/c we don't know much about what is being told or sold to RL and DG. Romeo is probably going to be in college one year so do you think he is making sure he gets the best institution possible for that one season? Possible but seems kind of silly.

Like I said, more a basketball decision and it’s IU in that case

If Garland pulls the trigger for Vandy this signing period and Romeo waits until this spring, I think a bad sign for IU. Why otherwise wait? If he was to announce this fall and it not be the state school, how uncomfortable would it be for him to play throughout the state his senior season. He is a fan favorite everywhere he goes. Especially to all of the kids. Seems he wouldn't want that on his shoulders. Not that kind of kid to play the role of the one who got away.

I don't see what purpose that serves for any of the schools involved especially us. He has taken all of his visits and had quite a few conversations with each staff/coach. All of the typical factors for delaying are off the table....waiting for additional reccruiting dominoes to fall (they will have fallen), hoping for another offer (who else is out there?), waiting to see if the coach makes it through the season (not the case with any schools he is considering) etc.

Which is why to me all the elation when it's positive and sorrow makes no sense. NO ONE KNOWS RELAX.

What effect, if any, do you guys think Hoosier Hysteria had on RL/DG. I know Tom never made HH about recruits so do you think that they were shocked? Go IU.

It was huge. It's why I believe we lead for both. Archie wanted HH to be about the staff & fans showing our basketball knowledge towards the recruits.

I agree. Couple that with AM pitch "to be an Indiana Legend" to RL. Romeo stayed in some part to be Mr. Basketball. Play at NA win another state title, win Mr Basketball, go to IU.... yeah you get the drift.

My wildly speculative opinion:

Garland commits to Indiana in the fall, then 80% chance Romeo commits in the fall and 20% chance in the spring

Garland doesn't commit to Indiana, 10% chance Romeo commits in the fall, 50% chance commits in the spring,  and 40% chance UNC and KU become much more serious options for spring signing.

If Garland doesn't commit, Green or someone else other than Newkirk need to demonstrate a level of PG performance I am not expecting to see this year... KU and UNC will both be much more attractive in terms of winning potential and PG. Garland is so important to this class.

You and I are on the same page. Securing the Garland commitment is huge.

Something nobody is mentioning but I feel can't be overlooked is Vandy being a real threat. Garland commits to Vandy, Shittu could follow shortly after. Gotta get Garland, otherwise Langford becomes harder to secure.

My prediction is that Garland stays in Nashville and we win a dogfight for Romeo in the spring.

This and the Darius Garland threads are the most interesting threads ever just constant up and down. Some people say they are both going to IU, some people say that neither are. Some people change their minds more than a high school girl. Honestly I’ll check it to laugh at the show. And you get good info in here. It’s like having your cake and eating it too

Lmao you and I are both are mainly for the show. Unless a kid commits fast there will always be people wanting to jump periodically. Neither was going to be quick. The response is even better than I could have hoped.

I believe I mentioned this and a few others. Vandy is a real threat NOW. Even without the commit. He doesn't commit without Garland no way though. If Shittu goes as well that is 3 top 10 recruits. Sorry but that would make them very good. Young, but very good. I also think it will be harder for Garland to sell Romeo on Vandy then Romeo w Garland and IU if they do end up playing together which has been a real possibility for some time now. I think Romeo is ours though. Have very little doubt, but let's wait and see how this Garland thing affects him first. Whether IU or Vandy ends up the choice.
