NY2LA Sports -

Keion Brooks has established himself as one of the top two 2019 prospects in Indiana. Brooks is a do it all forward that is very athletic making him a nightmare for other teams to match up with him. Brooks has helped lead his North Side Fort Wayne team to a 14-3 record while posting huge numbers including a 52 point performance earlier this season.

The 6-8 forward loves to push the ball himself and excels in the open floor. He has been working on playing off the ball and coming off screens to knock down open shots more consistently.  A legitimate top 50 talent (i.e. #34 in the most recent NY2LASPORTS.COM Class of 2019 Player Rankings), Brooks is continuing to move up in the board with his stellar play.  Brooks had a huge summer playing up on the 17u level in the Nike EYBL with Spiece Indy Heat. That helped him start to make even more noise on the national stage.  He led his team in scoring and rebounding averaging 18.2 points and 7 rebounds.

Brooks has been hearing from high major programs all across the country and is already holding offers from the likes of Kentucky, Michigan State, Kansas, Kansas State, Indiana, Florida State, Memphis, Georgetown, Missouri, Purdue, UCLA, Ohio State, Xavier, and more.  Brooks took visits to Kentucky, Michigan State, Purdue, and Indiana in the fall and one to Ohio State earlier this month.  The elite forward also had coaches from Kansas stop in to visit with him.

There is no time table on him making a decision yet as he is taking his time with the process.  Expect to hear a lot about Brooks over the next 8-10 months as he’s one of the elite talents in the Midwest, a top 50 prospect nationally, and he will garner a lot of national attention this spring and summer on the hardwood as he has the potential to become an immediate impact player at the next level.

Had someone reach out to me regarding news on Brooks from the SAC tourney in Fort Wayne.

In summary, Brooks is not expected to return to North Side next year which could likely mean prep school. Maybe a reclassify.

Other news is Brooks really likes Kansas and was won over by the coach Cal visit. His parents really like Izzo and MSU.

It might be smart for IU to push hard for Watford because the Brooks recruitment sounds way up hill. Sounds like parents lean MSU and Brooks leans UK, KU.

Will share more if anything comes to me. This is all third hand but second hand from people working the tournament.

Maybe a good time to revisit this?

It seems fairly short sighted to assume prep school significantly changes the recruitment. It's not like his family is moving. The same things that have put IU in a strong position are still there.

I would say I am short sighted then. I don’t see him coming to IU if he goes to prep school. Just a hunch this will bring more schools than MSU and IU into this.
