Hovadipo Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Espns brackets are such a mess. They have Indiana as a 5 playing in the Denver region. Yet they have Iowa as a 4 playing in Des Moines. Maryland as a 3 playing in providence. They also have Purdue as a 5 playing in Denver. I don't agree with a 5 seed especially if you're going to give Iowa and Maryland their seeds, but why would you have both Indiana teams playing in Denver and Iowa playing a home game? Makes no sense. Don't waste your time. Just wait for Andy Bottoms to post his. LIHoosier, FortWayneHoosier, HoosierTrav and 1 other 4 Quote

chitown hoosier Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Well rpi is unreliable and the difference in bpi between Iowa Maryland and IU is .2. Either way, win out the next 2 games and this won't matter at all. HoosierAloha, IUsafety, FortWayneHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote
biteoftheapple Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 RPI may be unreliable, but it is heavily used by bracketology and the tournament committee. That alone makes it valid. FortWayneHoosier 1 Quote
hoosiers55 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I think ok selection Sunday the seeds will be much different than what they are projecting. We deserve much more than a 5 seed. Rpi means nothing anymore. Quote

IIRC, Lunardi tweeted a week or so ago that RPI is being used less and less each year. Hopefully soon, it won't be much of a factor at all. Quote

Trish Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Joe L on ESPN is about as accurate as i am with math (Not very) Let's say we win our final two games. We will probably be ranked top 5 next week in the coaches and AP poll. Let's say we make it to the championship game (BTT), i could see us still getting a #1 seed even if we were to lose in the championship game. Right now, we're a 4-6 seed. After this sunday, we could work our way up to 2-4. ALASKA HOOSIER and Bobman1 2 Quote

So hypothetically IU could end the season by winning 5 straight games (4 against strong competition). They would be 28-6 and have won both the regular season title and BTT title. And Lunardi would have them on the 3 line. Can't see how they wouldn't at least hit the 2 line if that happened. MikeRoberts, Striper and IUsafety 3 Quote

Bowhunter Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Looking at the whole season aND for us, I don't see how we are not a 4 seed at this point with the possibility of a 2. How the heck does UK go up to a 3 seed after losing? southsidehoosier, Napleshoosier and HoosierAloha 3 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I don't think we make it to the 1 seed line, even winning out in the regular season and the BTT title. I think the best we could do is a 2 seed which isn't bad at all after the debacle that was Maui. If we win the last two regular season games and go 1-1 in the BTT that should get us comfortable protected seed. I think Lunardi incorporates a bit of shock value in his bracketology to get clicks and discussion. As someone pointed out above Joey brackets isn't really that accurate in his seeding of teams. With all that out there, I would like the latest of bracketology with a potential second round game against ISU and a sweet sixteen matchup against Nova. Quote
Uspshoosier Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 That math don't add up lolit adds up when take in consideration the whole resume for the whole year. The 2 losses in Maui is what is keeping these projections any higher then 4 or 5. We would of been better off playing cup cakes at home instead of going to Maui. You go to these preseason touneys to improve your rpi, except if you lose 2 games to team with +120 rpi and your only win is against St. John's +200 rpi I believe HoosierAloha and southsidehoosier 2 Quote
