We need to stay away from the big 12 teams early in the tournament. The level of the big 12 this year is really good ....

while the level of the big 12 is really good, once the tournament starts anything can happen. The big 12 was really good last year as well but that didn't stop UAB and Georgia st from defeating two 3 seeded teams in Baylor or a lot of people's final 4 pick team Iowa st in the first round. I personally would rather play teams like Oklahoma or iowa st that will try to out score us and push the pace rather then a team like Virginia that in the last 4 games has returned to their elite level on defense

Same as last season when they quickly nosed in the first few rounds...?

I'll take the big 12 this year, but yes they could burn out like they did last year. I hope that's the case again this year, but the competition level in the big 12 seems to be better than any other league this year.  I could be wrong... would not be the first time ...

I do agree OLK and Iowa St pace of play suits us better than a slow down grind out vs some other teams.

Valid point about pace of play....

I do think the big12 looks good so far this year and a lot of their teams will be prepared for the tournament.

Not sure the exact numbers but I thought I read in a thread that more often than not the National Champion was in the top 30 in KenPom adjusted O and D.

I also read tweet from Mark Titus that every NC team since 2003 has had an NBA guard on it's roster. (I didn't fact check this)

If both of these are true then your possible NC this year is on the following list....

Oklahoma

Michigan St

Kansas

Villanova

Maryland

if you go on Kenpom, like every single team since 2000 or something has had a Top 25 offense and defense at the end of the season. Except 1. UConn in 2014. I'm trying to think of the guard thing... last year Duke had Tyus Jones. UConn had Shabazz Napier... neither really play. Louisville had Siva and Smith who aren't NBA guards. I don't think that's a truth honestly. Bad stat lol.

Looking back at his tweet it did say DraftExpress.com projected NBA guard.

That is why Selden (#36 ranked prospect) would fall under the criteria for Kansas.

Interesting because here is list of teams that are top 30 in both O/D but do not have a projected player on the list.

Iowa

Virginia

West Virginia

not surprising with West Virginia. They don't have a single player NBA. I could see Kansas winning it all this year. All iffy on Oklahoma winning it all. They're a very good team and have Buddy Hield but the other two guards sort of play against him instead of with him.

Brogdon for Virginia is projected to be an NBA player?  I haven't watched a ton of their games but I've heard some ESPN talking heads talking him up.  If Jok continues to improve I could see him playing in the league too.
