Iowa doesn't surprise me all that much except their depth is much greater than I expected. They returned four starters so I figured they'd be in the hunt. Just didn't expect that kind of depth.

Wisconsin beating MSU and playing Maryland to the end floors me. On paper, Wisky is a really bad team. I would say Gard is in line to keep his job after beating Sparty. Not sure I'll like him any more than Bo now that I've seen how they played us.

I would never (never, never, never) have expected Purdue to lose to Illinois. That was a one-in-a-thousand thing IMO. I'm glad it happened, although I'd rather Penn State or one of the other bottom-half had done it than Illinois.

Us at 5-0 is no surprise given our schedule. Iowa at 5-0 is superbly impressive given its schedule.

Sparty at 3-3...how much of that is Valentine not yet at full strength? Still games at Michigan and at Purdue plus Maryland and us at home...where Iowa proved them beatable even with Valentine.

Maryland losing at Michigan? A surprise by not a shock. Other than Izzo, who's a better coach in the league than Beilein?

Minnesota and Rutgers both winless and probably will be until they play each other. Begs the question as to why Pitts Jr. was extended last winter.

Nebraska has really come on strong since the game with us. I'm glad we got them when we did.

Ultimately injuries decide a lot. Valentine, LeVert, JBJ, Spike Albrecht the biggest impacts so far, although I think Blackmon's absence has galvanized our guys to rally defensively.

Thoughts?

Iowa will go cold!!!

Iowa under Fran Mccaffery is much like Indiana under Tom Crean. Both have reputations for strong play early and late season swoons. I'll believe Iowa and Indiana are contenders when I see them play their best ball towards the end of the season. Not trying to be one of THOSE guys, but we've seen it so many times. Not as easily convinced this time around.

Where the heck did Peter Jok come from. That kid can ball. His confidence level in the Michigan game the yesterday was through the roof in the second half. Looked like a seasoned vet out there.

His dad was a General in the Sudanese Army. He was killed and then he and his family came over fairly early in Peter's life I'm pretty sure. (If your original question was literal)

Wasn't literal, but thanks for the info. Always nice to see someone overcome that kind of adversity.

I meant more that I don't recall his recruitment.

Update: apparently I haven't watched much Hawkeye basketball (not shocking). Kid is a junior. Having some what of a break out year though. Nearly doubled his PPG from last year thus far.

We have s legitimate chance to become 11-0 in B1G. That's all. My guess is end 15-3.

I wish. That would win the conference. It would keep Crean around but I'm more interested in winning championships than who the coach is.

I thought we would get through January unbeaten. Now I think we lose @ Wisconsin. I also see at least 5 more losses to end the season at 12-6 or worse.

Yep. These two have to "show me" now.

I think 12-6 or 13-5. We will lose most/all tough road games and lose 1 at home.

I agree. Outside of the O$U game, we haven't really looked that great...and against really bad/mediocre teams to boot. I'm going into the rest of the season with literally zero expectations. I cannot handle getting all worked up like I did last season and the beginning of this one.

Oh yes! Peter Jok is my favorite non-IU player of the 2015-2016 season. What a reason to play a sport. I want this kid to cash in. No more eating off the dollar menu, get this kid to the league! It's gonna be all artisan 100% angus beef burgers from here on out!

@TaylorRooks: Iowa's Peter Jok tells me he started playing basketball because he likes McDonalds. He only went to practice because they ate there after.

Anyway, back on topic, lol.

I wish we had Jok.

Good/great player. Cool story. OG is our version, but I want both.

Yes, I want Jok. [emoji6][emoji6]

The player is good, but don't forget he had two drinking/driving offences *this summer*.
