schoosier Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 To be fair, it really wasn't Samsung's phone calls that destroyed the program. It was the behind the scenes horror show of failed classes and failed drug tests that caused the need for the house cleaning.I sure don remember any NCAA penalties from failed drug tests, and to be completely honest; we have had more from our current oaching staff. Bassett and the kid who transferred to Xavier and went pro were the only two I could remember. Did the NCAA punish us for low apr or take away schollies? I sure can't recall losing any schollies or post season play. I'm just considering NCAA issues as it related to Sampson. Quote

We were left with the likes of Kyle Tabor because of the off court crime scene at the time. Take away the mess that caused us to completely clean house and give us a team that still has Bassett and Crawford and co.; we would've dug out faster and wouldn't have had to endure a 6 win season. The NCAA penalties were bad, but the behind the scenes disaster was just as bad. The latter is why we had to clean house and left Crean with a bare cupboard. Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I get sick just thinking about those days. That was not IU culture and character-------that was a disaster----and we lost out on some great recruits because of what was going on behind the scenes. Quote

I believe Crawford, Bassett, Jamarcus Ellis all had to miss because of their actions on the Chicago trip. Not sure if Holman or McGee were involved, because it would have been hard to tell what the reason they didn't play was, but I'm confident it was their style... Quote

IUsafety Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 ITH has him (LoVett Jr.) listed with Bryant and Swanigan in the 2015 recruiting board. I don't know how often they update their recruiting page though. rebelhoosier848891 1 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Theo Pinson of UNC had 4 points and 5 rebounds for the Heels today. He probably would be starting center for us this year! Only half-joking! MikeRoberts and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote
