Remy Abell with pretty average numbers on the season as a veteran junior. attachicon.gifImageUploadedByBtownBanners1417414647.913456.jpg

Shooting at 59% clip while avg over 9 point. Plus he's close to 3 assists and 2 rebounds per game. While maybe not mindblowing stats, they are good anyway you want to look at them unless you think he should have lottery stats. That kind of steady play would help any team and especially ours this year or last.

Against subpar talent. We have freshman and sophomores putting up similar or better numbers against equally subpar talent.

My point, Remy was probably not going to be a big part of the solution that some were making him out to be. I agree though, he's putting up decent numbers. I always liked him for his few minutes off the bench.

Would you agree that a senior Remy would be Abell to show the freshman, both summer 2013 and summer 2014, the ropes of the program?

Isn't the argument for keeping guys like Remy primarily related to the lack of leadership concerns we have? It seems each of the last two years we keep hearing we are young and don't have veteran leaders. Guys like Remy, even if role players can be that veteran leader we seem to be missing.

The last couple of years we have had guys like Remy leave and have replaced with freshmen. I remember guys like Joe Hillman who did not average a ton of points but was such a valuable leader his final years.

Could be wrong here...but I remember when Remy left there were reports that he had an "incident"of less than sound judgement?  Not sure we would want him in front of 18 and 19 year olds...

I think you and CF are correct. Remy and Hollowell fit in that boat, Roth and Creek in another and you could add Jurkin in another. While all have separate reasons we lost a lot of guys recently that could have helped provide veteran leadership.

Whatever happens this season ---I just hope we finally have some upperclassmen again soon. In general---we have always done better with veteran teams whether you want to look at wins and losses or leadership or maturity (fewer off the court problems).

Our youth and inexperience definitely shows....

Theo Pinson stinks again. I am record saying he was a project wing. It's proving more and more true.

0-2 tonight and 2 points. Pinson and Oubre are the worst 5 stars in some time. I imagine they breakout eventually though.

Etherington only 3 points in 13 minutes in a blowout win Vs. Indiana State. He is what we thought he was.

Saw Ahmed Hill for VT tonight. He was a major focus one spring period two years ago and a guy who really put the ball through the hoop. Averaging 8.3 ppg and 3.5 rbs so far in about 22 min, started half the games.

thanks pap. I remember him. I liked him. He had the whole twitter snafu about IU not recruiting him anymore or whatever. Not too bad of stats, but at a crummy bb school like VT I'm surprised he isn't getting more minutes.
