biteoftheapple Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Any word on OG? I assume he is ok. He finished the game on the floor. BtownBanner6 and Ranger78 2 Quote
Bobman1 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 After a 25 point win, this win might be good for the team. We escaped with a win, and cooled down the recent optimism so we can come out next week without any cockiness, and play the same way we did in the 1st half vs O$U. Naturalhoosier Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 A big shoutout to the always on target Chronic Hoosier, who described this game thusly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoXORtIibwQ&feature=youtu.be i love me some Wildcats! Classic movie! Quote
bleedhoosier Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I'm just super pleased with this team now. I know better than to think we are just gonna go whoop people on the road. That will be a rarity for most teams. We took care of business. I like that this team is getting put on the ropes and throwing the last punch during the road games. Seeing grit out there. Im trying to keep my excitement in check but this team is going to challenge Maryland and Iowa. OG is my new favorite player.. Yogi, u are the freaking man and u will not be replaced easily or perhaps at all. Ranger78, LockdownD, Napleshoosier and 4 others 7 Quote
Yogi'sBicep Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 11-7 is the absolute worst this team should be in conference, which means, given some of what's happened, 20 wins and a 7 seed or so....at worst. All of the Yogi fans, he was efficient as heck today from an A/TO standpoint, and when he is, Indiana is very tough to beat. But he was still 6-17 from the floor; and tends to shoot with volume. When he does THAT, we're not as good. He still needs to let the scoring opportunities come to him instead of looking for them. I think that's what will make the difference between this team having a chance to do well in the post season or not. I don't think he forced many, if any. Most were normal shots he strokes. He just didn't have it today for whatever reason. Personally, I'm okay with him shooting 12-15 shots/game given that they're good quality. Ranger78 1 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 The schedule has been kind to us so far---but you still have to win road games in hostile environments. We've had some killer schedules in the past so I gladly accept this one. I am proud of the team. Let's keep it going! WayneFleekHoosier and Ranger78 2 Quote
Alford Bailey Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Keep the turnovers manageable and we have a chance in any game. Ranger78, Napleshoosier and HoosierAloha 3 Quote
zinch2o Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 The 13 turnovers is actually good, as I think most were in the first half, or at least it seemed that way. 12-5 on offensive rebounds also huge. That is a big key and great point! I don't like to complain about refs but man they were atrocious this game. They weren't great, but IU got a few calls that could have gone to the gophers. two charge calls one they called a block, I think Yogi was driving, maybe not though, but the player was set, and then a charge our way.... they were bad, and natural home teams get more foul calls as refs are influenced by the fans, just natural, but they were bad both ways. I didn't get OG making a great Defensive play went down dunked it and theN SITS the bench...what gives CTC Now I can't find the source, but Crean says he likes to take the Freshman out after they make a good play so they can leave on something positive or some BS like that. It's dumb to me, it's like ok he made a good play, let's see if he can make another one why bench him? It could be a mismatch and you might want to keep going at it....but that's just me....I also heard Creanie say he doesn't call turnovers mistakes or something like that because it is a negative word and he doesn't want negativity around..... So I think that is the reason. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
Crimson and Cream Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Wore my IU sockhat proudly to work after the game, and it led to several discussions with some other happy Hoosier fans, one of whom pulled out the exact same sockhat out of his jacket and smiled saying, "I save this for any Purdue fans I encounter". I laughed and said, "Ugly game today huh?", and then we both simultaneously said, "But a win is a win!" 5-0 feels so great, and a great chance at 7-0 with 2 home games coming up. Glad OG is ok, he had another good game. I really don't understand why Colin Hartman gets so many minutes. OG should be getting his minutes, and I'd even play Zeisloft more than him. Also, each game I become a bigger fan of Bielfeldt, really enjoy what he brings to this team. Satisfied with the product being put out there right now, love my Hoosiers! waitingon6 1 Quote

So I think that is the reason. I believe this but it is so wrong. So, let's see, you make a good play and then get yanked. That is using "conditioning" in the most backwards, incorrect way. It also kills momentum and boost. It is absolutely wrong. So the "mixed message" is to play average. Don't make any mistakes or any good plays, because you may get yanked. And the turnover thing is silly too. Some turnovers are bad, some aren't. Teach the difference. When the are bad turnovers, they are negative and it's the best chance to teach expectations. biteoftheapple, LIHoosier, MikeRoberts and 2 others 5 Quote
Popular Post bleedhoosier Posted January 17, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 17, 2016 Hartman gets mins because he is incredibly smart. His fouls are half because he is bailing out the guards defensive mistakes. You don't give people easy baskets. He's Johnny in the spot. He actually feeds the post and he is just generally hard to account for on the court. He rips a 3 when you dont expect. He takes it to the hoop when you dont expect it. He's the glue and scrap guy that makes the schemes flow better. In a team of some dudes trying to get theirs, he's an important counterweight. Is that your stance on why he shouldn't get many mins? Who cares if he gets 4 fouls a game? You give up fouls to stop easy baskets. BTOWN, Str8Hoosiers, JaybobHoosier and 7 others 10 Quote
Miller'sTheMan Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Yeah not sure it would be smart to cut Hartman's minutes. He had two key buckets at the end of this game in addition to solid defense. Quote
DChoosier Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I like that Crean is seemingly showing Troy the bench when he makes boneheaded plays. Troy definately stayed more in the flow of the game after getting pine time. Crimson and Cream, HoosierAloha and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote

NZ on defense after Troy took a nap with 20 seconds left that gave King a wide open look for 3. Quote

zinch2o Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Troy doesn't play very good defense for a player of his ability. He gets a lot of blocks coming over another guy, but he seems to fall asleep a lot or just not know what is going on a lot of times... Quote
