woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 I've been looking to see if anything like what happened yesterday to THT has ever happened before yesterday. I haven't found anything. Can anyone recall.Sent from my SM-G930V using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Look at sectional 58. Hunter could end up being a great player in the B1G but this was always a concern of mine watching him play over the last couple of years. HoosierAloha Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 I will say this though Painter is a testament to good coaching overcoming recruiting difficulties. Painter is a solid coach that got off track in what he was doing. He's found some tough nosed kids that have pride in what they do. They have the pieces to make a run at a Final Four; bigs, shooting, good guard play, defense, etc. I'm not buying them being Final Four caliber though. Edwards and turnovers can put them sideways quickly though. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app IUsafety 1 Quote

But, I have a lot of respect for how he puts teams together and how they play. He's getting his kind of talent again now and, like it or not, Purdue is not going away..I think CAM is doing the same thing and expect some epic Knight/Keady like battles in the future. Josh Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Matt Painter has been wildly inconsistent and can't perform past the Sweet 16. In other words, he is Tom Crean.I don't understand how IU fans who wanted Crean fired can admire Painter. ALASKA HOOSIER, coonhounds, mdn82 and 2 others 5 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 because unlike Crean he's winning without a roster full of 4 and 5 stars. Guys system does work. He just struggles to fill his roster with the right players. Quote

IU fans want to be like Kansas, Duke, Kentucky etc results wise. If Crean didn't miss the NCAAs so often he'd still be our coach. The crazy inconsistencies cost him his job. WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Oh I agree. Which is weird when I see IU fans praising Painter's "success"At least for me it's through my Purdue spectrum. They don't have the history or resources(?) to expect blue blood recruiting and results. For next tier programs they are doing pretty well. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
mdn82 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 because unlike Crean he's winning without a roster full of 4 and 5 stars. Guys system does work. He just struggles to fill his roster with the right players. His best years were either with a 5* and solid 4* or high 4* due to our sanctions. Josh is right. He is essentially Crean’s ceiling with less crazy flow season to season. He was at the bottom of the B1G a few years ago and they were getting ready to fire him like a year or two after he almost left for Mizzou.
