That and I believe in the law of attraction. Think and act as though you already have something you want and it will manifest itself. So I keep telling myself I KNOW he's going to be our next coach and eventually this will happen.

What sucks is...It seems like Stevens is our only Saban or Harbaugh option. There's other good hires out there, but alot of fans' eggs are in the Stevens basket and if we don't get him, the divide will still be in the fanbase unless the new guy turns it around quick.

Harbaugh was the only Harbaugh option for Michigan. The interim AD was actually referring to him as UNICORN during the process bc they didn't know if they could get him or not.

They still did their homework and it was rumored that Les Miles would be next of Harbaugh said no. Some would say Les would be an awesome backup plan. But the idea of Les Miles was very divided among Michigan fans. Les isn't viewed as being on the up and up if you will, both professionally and personally. He had an affair with another coaches wife, while an assistant at Michigan. Harbaugh literally was the only choice that was going to unite the fanbase.

The AD did a ton of work behind the scenes getting alumni and those close to Harbaugh to sell him on how badly the university of Michigan needed and wanted him. Jims dad, Tom Brady, and a number of former teammates were all talking to him and supporting the idea of "coming home". His parent actually moved from Wisconsin to Ann Arbor to basically have the majority of his family close again.

This is the type of work that Glass will have to coordinate to get Stevens. Stevens isn't an alum but grew up an IU fan. Glass would need to find those connected to the university that also have a good relationship to Brad. Being from Indiana, he surely has family and friends that could work on him about how great it would be "to come home".

Don't disagree with any of that. Stevens just seems to be a pipedream compared to Harbaugh. Harbaugh was on his way out of SF and that was obvious while Stevens is just getting started in Boston with a bright future. I'm not sure that we necessarily have a Les Miles option as far as coaching level goes either.

Harbaugh could have had any NFL that would have been open. It was Michigan or NFL. It didn't matter that he was leaving SF.

People need to stop being scared of not getting the guy. Sack up, make a move and go strong for a top condidate. If Stevens says no then go get another top coach. Just have to offer the money and IU will get a great coach.

I mean, it did matter he was leaving the Niners. It's much easier to hire someone who is looking for a job than someone who is currently happy in their own job.

Like Martin just said, he was leaving his job for sure, Stevens isn't. That's a pretty major difference, is it not? Sure, if Stevens would say "hey I'm done in Boston" it could take some serious work to fight off major programs, but the fact remains that Stevens is still a new NBA coach and has job security. It's not as easy as throwing the IU Credit Union at him.

I have no doubt they want to be blue blood again. I here this alot what do they benefit by not being? Why spend so much on recruiting to lose? If crean wins to national titles in a row will they then fire so they don't become elite.?

I'm just afraid we will go after a mid-major coach on the rise.. We need a proven coach. AKA, we need Stevens. Celtics are playing great right now and he's gotten tons of praise from many of NBA folks. Some are even saying he will win multiple coach of the year awards in the NBA.

As others have explained, I don't think he would have to travel too far to find the majority of his type of players. Also the longer and more success he had in the NBA the less he will have to travel to recruit.

Across the globe?  Just because Crean would go to Timbuktu and kick over every rock there because he thinks a kid might be able to jump to use a scholarship that may not even be open, doesn't mean Stevens would.  Actually, Stevens there could be a lot of kids that fit his system in the Midwest.  His NBA experience and the name Indiana would help him quite a bit.

Yep, plus most of his roster could theoretically be filled with kids within a 4 hour driving radius of Bloomington.
