Hoosiers219 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 The logic behind AK's post is that Thon doesn't want to be a traditional big. By adding a second legitimate front court player, Thon can play more on the perimeter Understood. I guess I'm just saying that as good as Thon is we could play him at the 4 and he could play to his strengths. Conceivably, if DD did not commit, we would start Thon with Bryant. I don't know how this would change anything really. Why couldn't Thon play a "4" like Troy played a 4 only Thon better suited for the position? I just think we are discussing traditional titles for positions that might not apply in our current scheme. KelleyHoosh 1 Quote
Hoosiers219 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I believe what will make our frontcourt formidable next year will be Morgan and O.G. will back up this duo. Nice insight. I didn't think of that at all. It is huge though. Quote

Alford Bailey Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Landing Davis is huge because we invested a ton and we weren't in on any other bigs ( not counting Thon). Now we can focus on Brown or Alkins and land a top 30 guard with Thon a wildcard. Hoosiers219, XLevel, Napleshoosier and 4 others 7 Quote
JSHoosier Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 It's a good pickup and I wish him the best, but it does absolutely nothing to change my opinion. Alford Bailey 1 Quote

Never Daunted Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Looking forward to an awesome front court. And wow hope we keep up some momentum and get Alkins, Thon, Brown. barrettballer 1 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Just read his interview. Quality stuff. Said we were with him when he was number 1 ranked, 10th ranked, 20th ranked. He seemed to drop to the 30-50 range but the talent is there. Wonder if he can rise back up or not. Quote

HoosierAloha Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 The DD pickup is huge for many reasons. It gives us a bigger and more traditional front court if TB stays for his sophomore year. OG and JM should be solid backups for that front court with Colin bringing experience and shooting off the bench. It also allows OG or Colin to play on the wing and provide a much taller and bigger lineup that could punish teams on the boards. In recruiting, it shows recruits like Alkins and Brown, or some other guard we don't know about yet, that they will have a front court that can compete with most in the country. If we add BB or RA or keep JBJ that is a solid top 25 team. Assuming TB and DD are not one and dones and we don't see any transfers from players like RoJo, OG, or JM we could finally see some consistency we haven't seen with Crean at the helm. Edit: add CuJo to that list as well Alford Bailey, JaybobHoosier, HoosiersInMyHead and 1 other 4 Quote

I would say if we add RA and either keep JBJ or land BB we should have a top 25 team easy. That would be either two MCDAAs in our backcourt and one in our front court or one in our backcourt and one in our front court with with almost all top 100 talent rounding that out. Kepner Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Better than Zeller and Watford? I think Bryant and DD will be more of a front court. Watford was a wing that was playing out of position as a 4. He was out there for his offense. I don't think DD as a four brings the same permitter play but his defense, rebounding, and post game will be better. In other words I see DD and Watford as two very different positions. This will be the most traditional front court we've had in a long time. Someone said it in another thread but DD will be like DJ White Alford Bailey and Hoosiers219 2 Quote

Watford was hit or miss with his defense, but he didn't hurt us. Quote
