IU vs Bellarmine Post Game Thread

Recommended Posts

Figured it would be closer than expected, they are a good fundamental team. Those teams hurt us, or keep the score closer because of it.

For those on the negative side, we will be just fine. We will have these games, and no reason to raise flags just yet. Blackmon isn't 100%, one of their guys made a ton of 3's, and it's still early.

We will be fine, lets quit being glass half empty all the freaking time!

Fair to say Crean let the bench players get more time late in the first and the entire second half? That seems like a more plausible explanation for the lackluster final 25 minutes. Did we see lots of weird lineups after murdering Bellarmine in the first 15?

Got out coached. Didn't play hungry or hard enough. Yogi is the bomb. Love Troy. Max is going to have problems with bigger teams. So will Zman. OG needs to catch 500 passes a day. JB needs to get his swag back. TB NEEDS to be healthy. Wish we still had DD and Holt for front court depth. Hartman is athletically very limited. Blackmon has improved his ball handling but not his decision making.

That sums it up. VERY excited for Friday's game!

Radio take by Fisch---TB did not play much 2nd half--Crean not wanting to wear him down---we are awesome with him in there.

Rojo with tough defense all night long.

Makes sense considering they start with 6 games in 12 days along with an umpteen thousand mile flight in the middle.

So Kep mentioned in the other thread our three "bigs" didn't play as much in the second half. We dominated the first when they were in, and started crumbling when we went small after the first 15 minutes. My interpretation of that is: Our team from last year has major defensive holes, but last years team plus Bryant and Beifeldt kills it. Verdict: All is good.

my assessment was accurate and included both negative and positive things. We could/should have played better. But it is an exhibition and we are hopefully learning from it. Not too much of a big deal but I included from my interpretation the positives and negatives I witnessed.

Bryant, Hartman, and Beifeldt played 10, 9, and 11 minutes respectively in the first. 6, 9, and 5 in the second. Seems like Crean played small ball tonight.

Wow. I thought they werent' getting much time but I'm surprised to learn how little exactly. Crean has really been testing out a lot of new line-ups in these two games.

Crean's radio take on the game:  2 champion level teams to start the year from Canada and D2 which helps get us ready.

Troy with 14 deflections--8 in second half. Good stretch of defense in 1st half and not good at dealing with their spreading us out and using switches in the 2nd half as IU has not put that in with some of the guys on defense yet. Some guys did not show up tonight he said. Overall--he was happy but admits we still have a lot of work to do.
