Prepare early for a meltdown!!!

Recommended Posts

I hope we land several of the guys mentioned above, but if not:

RoJo Developed Junior

CuJo

? JB

Josh N

CH Developed Sr.

OG Developed Soph

JM  Developed Soph

?TB probable return

? Thon

?? Rawle

Possible Grad Transfers

MSB

The five thugs have more to worry about than I do.  btw The development of some of our guys might be a significant reason for some to hesitate in pulling the trigger for IU.

Getting pre-upset about a decision that is two weeks away because some individuals who are not personally connected with the recruit, made a selection on CB is the craziest thing. Doubly so since the nature of CB encourages snowballing. If a couple people make a change then others feel like they should change because what if they knew something and now I'm going to look stupid? Better be safe and change it.

If you are so wrapped up in Indiana Basketball that the possibility of a recruit choosing another school can ruin your day or week, then please, focus on something else for a little bit. Some time away will help you see that it isn't such a big deal.

That's the royal "you" not anyone in particular.

Don't think this response is necessary. It's part of being a fan. Ups with the team and downs with the team. Perfectly normal of fandom. My perspective of things are just fine and missing recruits is more of a talking point of being a fan than "ruining my day or week". Speaking for myself of course.

Ben Howland and Avery Johnson threw MAJOR wrenches into Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks plans. He put in a lot of legwork with some of these kids and was considered the favorite to land them for the majority of their recruitments. This whole SEC recruiting at a high level, will hit a peak soon. Wait until a conference power from a real basketball conference comes calling for some of these guys. They will bolt. Pearl, Howland, (maybe) Avery Johnson. Watch!

Howland had issues but was a successful recruiter and coach. Hope he becomes a thorn in UK side while he is there.

Preparing 13 days in advance to meltdown over maybe losing a recruit is not rolling with the ups and downs.

A changing CB pick should warrant a "bummer, I hope he's wrong" not a meltdown.

phrasing may be the issue at hand. But the title is apt to our fanbase as a whole and this board if the CB is correct. Again, just talking points relative to the updated "news".

Don't worry, I'm not on suicide watch.

Thon is a talented big man, for certain. But, he is no program savior. At best, he is a one and done if he enrolls anywhere. I truly like the other guys here better.

I view any Thon talk like playing the Lottery. You might get lucky but not likely. We need to be making safer bets into the likes of Kegler and Davis.

Thon is the backup plan for sure.  I prefer Davis to Kegler myself.

Not to get too far off topic but I want as many guys with NBA aspirations in the 2016 class as possible.  But ones with low 1 and done potential.  Because if after the 2016 Crean has underachieved yet again we can let him go, and it will be easier for this new coach to prevent transfers.

Goodness, chill out.  MSU may in fact get Kegler, that really wouldn't be a shock.

Davis is a different story though.  They got in on him late, and have virtually no real connection to him.  I'm a lot more confident in Davis than any of the other guys we're currently after, but don't freak out over a couple crystal ball picks.  More will follow, trust me.

If we get Davis and Brown to go with Curtis Jones, that's still a great haul.  Then go all in for Thon or Rawle, and we won't remember who Mario Kegler even was.

In all frankness, anyone who would choose MSU over IU isn't someone we want at IU in the first place...

Except if that person was a Mississippi native to begin with who wants to be part of the momentum of a turnaround there.

Still plenty of time for him to think it over.  Remember, they do have a number of guards already committed, and there's always a chance Newman doesn't go pro after his freshman season.
