Emmitt Holt dismissed from team

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately it had to be done after Hanner and Devin got the boot this summer. This second violation was so incredibly minor, but you can only give your team so many chances if you ever want to have a sense of discipline. It's sad because he would've been a great help this year and didn't seem like a bad kid, but ultimately he did it to himself.

Lost in all of this is the issue that there were other people in the car that have never been identified.   Why?

Well, one of two reasons.  Either it is players trying to be protected (which I doubt).  Or people in the car that may make a negative situation look even worse.

Probably because they were either of age and it didn't matter or because they weren't in possession of the alcohol so there's no reason to identify them.

Not sure I follow how McRobbie's voice was being heard at the players' level?  The players didn't get rid of Holt.  We will see how much the team learns from this dismissal.

I guarantee that the players are listening now. THAT was the point that I was trying to make.

I am honestly glad we are starting to.  This one sucks from a basketball standpoint, but the arrests aren't Indiana basketball.

My point is that it goes to show the state of the program. I understand that it had to be done, but it's on the coaching staff for letting it get this out of control.

What was Crean supposed to do? He isn't the parent, he can't be with them all 24 hours a day. I don't get how anyone puts stupid college kid mistakes on the coach.

one mistake no, two mistakes no, three and maybe we should start looking at the coaches, four, we should start definitely looking at the coaches, what is this 9 offenses in two years? Coaches need to be punished too at this point

Why did it take over a week to make this decision? I get the program is under a microscope now but waiting a week and throwing a kid out seems like a oh crap we have to do something move not a punishment fits the crime kind of move.

Yeah, this was getting old when Luke left.  Now change has to happen one way or another.

I am wondering if they didn't drug test him and he failed.  I know nothing, but the week thing made me think.

Good question. My only guess is that they technically broke no laws, and are being dealt with privately.

Personally, my guess is that they were teammates who were 21 or over, but that's just a wild-haired supposition on my part.

I wonder if maybe they told Holt a week ago and kept it quite so he could get himself situated for the future?
