Thomas Bryant and Emmitt Holt cited for illegal alcohol posession

I would like to hear the case for Yogi being a leader.

Yogi 'runs it' on the floor during games, and he holds guys accountable during games.

Yogi is also a leader in practice.

And more often than not, when you see Yogi run down the court and take the quick shot instead of looking for the play to develop, that is what he is told to do.  That is part of our offense.  Almost always when you see Yogi do that, it is when he has not taken a shot in a while.  Yogi is one of our many scoring options, and he is supposed to shoot from time to time to keep the defense mindful that they have to  defend Yogi's shot too.

Seems to have gotten way off the thread of this post.

However, in reading the last several pages of comments, I don't understand all the complaining about all the players that you guys are doing. It seems that if all of the complaints turn out to be accurate, we will be lucky to win half of the games.

The team is much better than that so I don't know where all of you are coming from. Yes, there are a few problems but man-o-man guys, you all sound so terrible.

If I were a recruit looking to see what was happening at IU, this would be the last place I would want to come. Who would want to come play for a group of fans that tear everyone up even those that have never even finished their high school season?

Here all of you are complaining because we don't have any 'bigs' signing up. Can you blame them the way you are carrying on. If you are indeed an IU fan, act and talk like one so the team and any recruit will enjoy playing for IU.

Sit back right now and say to yourself, 'I will try to be more positive in my thinking of and talking of IU basketball.' Let's keep the players that are playing, have committed, and those we hope will commit.

Now, let's get some good recruit visits and let them hear how much we want them and that we will not bad mouth them after they commit.

haha, ok. I feel like a pocket watch should be swaying in front of my face while I read this

Let's not get carried away and say that an NBA exec is going to be turned off by Yogi's level of partying. Yogi's partying is normal college partying. It is not the kind of partying that causes a front office to stamp your resume with a big RED FLAG

who said that?

Because being a true fan means not being critical at all and instead finding a cheerleaders uniform in your size and being nothing but positive

I, like many around me believe & have always believed that Yogi is about Yogi. Like Hollowell was about Hollowell. Like Devin was about Devin. Like Hanner was about Hanner. Like Noah was about Noah.

While what you say does hold a modicum of truth, someone has to stand up and say that the emperor is parading around stark naked. Please tell me that you are not completely satisfied with the state of our basketball program, the goings-on and way is which it all is being handled - on the court or off.

I think the exise cop is a cat fan, and this whole mess is a mountain made of a mole hill

the 1 offense alone is not the end of the world. I doubt many fans would care if it was the first IU basketball offense in years but it's not. It happens regularly and hasn't slowed or stopped. There is a pattern of this activity at IU and people are sick of it

If you think an NBA exec is going to shoot Yogi down because Holt and Bryant got popped by Excise for an unopened bottle of vodka during Welcome Week, I would have to disagree with that.

who said that?

It looks like you did.

Crean saying he has zero good leaders on his team when he has a senior point guard that has nba aspirations isn't good for his draft stock. If I'm an nba exec, even if I can get over yogi being 5'10" I don't think I can get over him not being a good leader

I don't see any NBA exec caring about Bryant and Holt's excise violation when evaluating Yogi.

We already had this conversation yesterday.

Oh great, another post basically saying "you're not a true fan, you're critical of the program".  Being a fan and being critical are not mutually exclusive, and many of the people that are critical have given praise when it was deserved.

Tom Crean himself had the team has no leadership, the endless string of off court legal incidents are case in point.  No one is holding these guys accountable.  You can keep trying to convince yourself Yogi is a leader, but he's not and Crean himself said just that by saying the team has no leaders.

I think the exise cop is a cat fan, and this whole mess is a mountain made of a mole hill

This one incident is minor.  It's not in a vacuum though.  The uproar you're seeing is a result of this on top of every other incident this team has had the last couple years as a result of no leadership and accountability.

Funny, I don't remember all this shrieking and squawking when Coverdale and Fife were going to jail for Excise violations and fake id's.  In fact, every time I read mention of Coverdale and/or Fife's and/or Sheehey's party crimes for that matter, it is always in a boys will be boys chuckling tone.
