Remember this post: Starting to think that OG is a major sleeper for more reasons than just his athleticism.

He's a fantastic student (and is the son of an IU B School grad who is a business professor). Really smart, personable kids with lots of natural ability tend to shine.

The way he writes, even on Twitter.

The way the people that are interacting with him at IU are dropping hints. Marni Mooney is seldom wrong:

  • marnonthemoonThe best and funniest part about OG is that he posed for this picture. I've never met anyone like him! The fans are going to love this kid! Happy bday OG!!! @oanunoby
  • lasrileyHappy Birthday, @oanunoby!
  • oanunobyThank you!

^^Yessiree!!! I don't start with "remember this post" very often, so I will dare to pat my own back thusly^^

I don't understand why he's the forgotten one.The kid has skills and if we hadn't gotten Bryant he'd be the talk of the town.
I'm telling you guys don't sleep on this one. He's long, athletic and loves to play around the rim.Plus he has a really nice jump shot.
I see him as a Christan Watford type who can actually dunk. That's the epitome of a stretch four.

Mic hits the floor!

Thunderous dunker! Has Dominique Wilkins-esq finishing ability around the rim. I continue to be amazed with how strong he goes up to the rim right after getting a rebound.

Love his motor as well. The kid has enormous potential. He can be a perimeter lockdown small forward, or play as an active power forward in a smaller lineup.

If continues to work on his shot and adds strength he could be a force to be reckoned with!

I love OG's game. Plays hard and plays smart with explosive athleticism. He can make a jaw dropping play and act like its nothing! Initially, I was thinking he and Juwan would be great 4 year guys. I think Hoosier nation needs to enjoy watching this guy because this time next year we'll probably be debating if he will be coming back for another season.

Thanks for sharing '66. That was a great article. I knew there was some story behind how OG started playing that was interesting, but I couldn't remember what, I'm glad this article filled in the gaps. And it's cool hearing some about how Crean acts v. other coaches act from the kids. I feel like we don't see that much.

But man, think about the "What if?" if he had gone to Iowa instead.

He would probably be that "unknown" guy dropping a career high vs us like in recent seasons.

I think he was like the 8th best player out of Illinois

Looking back at 247Sports Composite ratings of the state of Illinois, typically players ranked outside of the top four in-state were in the mid-80's (3 star) range. Totally unscientific analysis here.

Something about OG reminds me of Calbert Chaney.
CTC's find of the year.... He and Max!

OK...don't get me wrong, I love the way that OG plays, but Calbert was one of the best college players that I have ever seen.  Averaged 17/game as a frosh.  Let's hope that OG can be at least as half as good as Calbert.
