Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession

Recommended Posts

He shouldn't have been an RA. He's promoting illegal activity on a college campus

I am not talking about his credentials or what he was promoting, just saying what he did.

As 41 said earlier RAs turn the blind eye to 18 year olds drinking, which is also illegal and has much more dire consequences when abused.  If you think these things aren't going on and RAs don't know about it you are being willfully ignorant to what goes on at college.

I lived it this year. I was a freshman in the dorms. I have as recent of a firsthand experience as anyone. It absolutely happens. I'm just saying that that RA is in the wrong. I understand he's not trying to cause problems

I think his point was turning a blind eye and letting the activity take place in the RA's room is completely different. I was cool withy them drinking in their rooms, NEVER would have been cool with them drinking in mine.

Exactly. The RA knew we drank, but he would never drink with us. It's a completely different situation. He always said "Wait until next year."

This brings up the question of was it a good decision by Crean to force the team to live in the dorms considering the problems didn't go away...

It was a genius decision. One that has apparently ended as well. If the kids get caught they should be gone. No more third or fourth chances. You get 1 F up and immature mistake. Then you need to show you can grow from that.

I think it was a great decision as well, but being one that enjoys a nice debate, I wanted to offer up the question. Crean did what he had to do. I don't think Crean deserves any blame for this. He and Glass made it clear that there would be consequences for the next occurrence to happen. We shall see if they are men of the word. I would hate to see Devin go as a basketball player that could really help us, but he must go. He simply doesn't respect RPS, IU, or IU basketball

Crean is a terrible coach and has not been harsh enough with discipline. However, that has nothing to do with this incident. The bottom line is these guys just don't care. If they cared they wouldn't do it.

I don't think this is the place to discuss Crean as a coach. We've all given our opinions plenty. As for your other point, I agree. You're given the opportunity to play college basketball at Indiana University and you blow it. That is mind boggling to me

At this point, I, just, I, well, as I usually say during football offseason with the Irish and the Colts, yawn.  Wake me up when it's over and there are kids who want to play ball and represent the University and the Candy Stripes.

Lol.. Is crean suppose to get a sleeping bag and have sleepovers with the players? Devin is an adult and this is on him to make better decisions.. Amazing how everyone wants to blame crean for everything

No. He's supposed to oversee the program. Repeat offenders should NOT be on the team. Define the rules. Violate them once, face the discipline. Violate them twice, say bye-bye. Make an example out of one or two of the violators - might make the others think twice about behaving stupidly.

This is a bigger issue because it's the SAME team. The kids who keep getting involved have previously been guilty of such behavior. Crean needs to put some teeth into the discipline, or just let the players run amok.

IMO, this is extremely close to a "lack of institutional control" situation.

Sometimes you get "creaned". Other times, you "crean" yourself. Bye-bye, Devin.

I just wish these guys knew the minute you signed that letter of intent you consented to not living the normal "college lifestyle". You are under a microscope. There are just some things you don't get to have the luxury of experiencing. I played small time college football and I was scared to death of getting caught doing anything that would get me in trouble so I avoided it. This eve goes to something as small as skipping one class......I can't even imagine how paranoid I would have been if I was playing big time D1 haha.
